I feel like I have just been involved in the most beautifully, tragic love story and that my heart has been ripped from my chest and shattered into a million pieces and at the same time so absolutely full of love for this story and it's characters and I am not sure how that's even possible. I adore Sloane's writing, she lured me in with her paranormal series so this beauty was the next logical step. I mean have you seen that cover? It is STUNNING! I expected the story to match and I wasn't disappointed.
Sloane has this way of writing that pulls you into the story and makes you feel a part of everything that happens. The good, the bad, the painful and the beautiful. You witness the characters grow and flourish while feeling like you too are growing along with them. You will lose count of the times you fall in love with the words in front of you and the characters that seemingly become a part of you. Don't get me wrong there will be times where your heart will hurt and I mean really hurt but every ounce is worth it. Every feeling you feel is worth it!
I can not recommend this book and Sloane enough!
This book deals with some very real & very emotional issues. Erin is at school & is suffering at the hands of bullies. The bullies are led by the girlfriend of the boy who lives next door to Erin; Evan. Erin thinks that Evan is her friend, but to me Evan's actions or lack of actions say otherwise.
Erin tries to carry on with her life & to stay out of the limelight. Then in walks Mason Knight. Mason sits by Erin in all the lessons they have together & he tries to be her friend. Mason shows Erin kindness & love, he shows her that she doesn't have to feel alone or deal with the bullying alone either.
As Erin & Mason grow closer they face events that are unimaginable. They face some serious obstacles that need to be overcome, the start to their relationship is far from smooth or easy. But still they keep fighting, determined to not give up.
The way the author has dealt with writing the events contained in this book is really good. The sensitive issues are handled in such a way that I found myself sitting & thinking; they become thought provoking events. The emotion contained within the pages is palpable, its clear to see & understand why some of the characters feel & behave the way they do.
The way the author has written When We Fall makes the characters all so real that I felt as though I was there with than, that they were my friends & classmates too. I also felt as though I was alongside Erin & Mason experiencing their emotions, feelings & events with them.
If your looking for a sweet, romantic read, with some heartbreaking, tear jerking moments I'd definitely give When We Fall a chance.
I give When We Fall a strong 4.5* rating.
What an emotional time this book takes us on!!
Absolutely fab story about Erin who was abandoned by her parents when she was a baby and is going through a hard time at high school putting up with some vile bullies...if she could only get through 1 more year she will be free.. then along comes Mason Knight to join the school and everything changes!
Erin starts to enjoy life.. feeling happy for the first time in a while when starts to let her barriers down all things go downhill.
This books is sweet.. loving... emotional and just heart breaking at times but is written so so well.
Sloane may have came out of her comfort zone to write this but she smashed it and couldnt have wrote such emotional hard scenes any better.
And Mason, oh where do I begin, he was fabulous and protective and sweet which isn't a combination you get much of, but he jumped off the pages and you could tell how much he loved Erin which was testament to how well it was written. Well done Sloane for another incredible story 💓
