I liked the plot of this story, it's really different. Some of the dialogue is quite funny. Thought at one point Claire and Barclay would become a couple.

Neil Bailey is a first-time author and it's a strong debut - the plot moves at a pace, it's a real page-turner and I read it in just three sessions I was so keen to unravel the twists and turns in the plot. Written in the first person, it's impressive how he captures the voice of a mid-twenties woman. She's a bit frenetic and she might benefit from toning down a bit to give the narrative a bit more subtlety. And I did guess the twist which was signposted a bit too early for me. But it left me wanting more, both of these characters and this writer. He conjures up a very visual story and actually I think he's make a good screen-writer. This feels as much a screenplay as a novel and I really wanted to cast the characters.

Just finished the book and really enjoyed it. I soon got into the novel as the plot starts to develop from the first page. While also introducing some strong characters. All of which are mostly realistic as well, none of your perfect plastic characters like in some novels. A really good summer read especially if you like some fast paced drama, lots of London scenes and a strong female lead character. Like other reviewers I will be looking for the next in the series, there feels there is more there to give!

I know Neil from his prior life in IT with a big media company, so it's a rare case of reviewing something by someone I know. But I liked this book. As others have said, it's a page turner and fast paced. Interesting plot, based in a city I know well, and I quickly engaged with the characters. I read it in downtimes while on a business trip and it definitely made the time pass quickly. I would buy a follow-up whether I know Neil or not.

An intriguing introduction and strong first chapter hooks the reader. Barclay is an enigmatic character with a 'flexible moral code,' so it is interesting to see how far Claire will immense herself in his world. London is a great setting for the plot and you can visualise the graphic scenes. The ending beckons a humorous sequel, as readers look forward to the next exploits of Claire and Barclay.

I am giving this novel 5 stars - not because it is completely flawless, but because it is a highly original and promising debut and well worth a read. Claire and Barclay are multilayered characters; the plot is pacy and the writing style is humorous, intelligent and easy to read. I genuinely want to see a second book of their escapades. For a debut novel, this is unusually polished.

What a first novel and page turner. The book was recommended to me and I discovered the author was based in London and a local. The characters and their dilemmas are highlighted to us after the first few chapters and this is where the roller coaster ride begins.....Neil Bailey I'm looking forward to the next book!
