Product description

About the Author

Karen Ranney wanted to be a writer from the time she was five years old and filled her Big Chief tablet with stories. People in stories did amazing things and she was too shy to do anything amazing. Years spent in Japan, Paris, and Italy, however, not only fueled her imagination but proved she wasn't that shy after all.

Now a New York Times and USA Today bestseller, she prefers to keep her adventures between the covers of her books. Karen lives in San Antonio, Texas.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful story 17 May 2014

At last a 5 star book after a long drought. I recently read a recommended Ranney (Till next we meet) and it encouraged me to comb through her older books again. I discovered this little gem and it made my day. I found it incredibly romantic and this author has a knack for making me feel what her characters feel. I'm not a huge fan of explicit sex in my historicals but I have no problems with the way Ms Ranney writes her love scenes. Our H is 'forced' into marrying the h because he wants a certain piece of his family's land and the h's father insists that marrying his daughter be part of that deal. He is determined to annul the marriage at the first opportunity but somehow the two begin their journey towards their hea.

I must state that the reason I didn't buy this book before now was because of some of the negative comments. I didn't find that the H's insistence on an annulment dragged on. Quite the opposite actually and so I was pleasantly surprised. I've now downloaded another 2 of the books in this series and look forward to reading them.

5.0 out of 5 stars I just love this series by Karen Ranney 23 Oct. 2015

I just love this series by Karen Ranney, Book 2 was a continuation of the story line of the McRae family, but even if you didn't read Book 1, just grab Book II and you can start fresh. But, I would advise you to get Book 1 and after reading Book 1 and 2...go onto Books 3-6! What an adventure. I wish there were Books 7 thru....even today. Love this family and their story! Thank you Karen Ranney! PS...and they are sexy too!

5.0 out of 5 stars Whudda ride... 25 Feb. 2012

This is the second installment of a five book series by K. Ranney. A romantic story about the eldest of five brothers...Alisdair MacRae who is forced into marriage to Iseabal Drummond. I loved this story and I thought it was told exceptionally well with bits of humorous situations and lots of History. I'd still like to know the ages of our love interests involved in the story. Is this a dark secret that K. Ranney leaves for the reader to discover on our own? Clues please? I mean other than knowing that Alisdair is born soon after Ian/Leitis' immigration to N.S. So, what...he's 28 -29? Still, whats the age of Iseabal???!!?? Other than that, great (sweet) story of a strong love between two people. But hey, lose the cheesy back covers!!

If you have read Book 1, you would understand the poignancy of Book 2. It is beautiful to imagine as Ms Ranney wrote how Alisdair rebuilt his home, how strong Iseabel is. So is the side story of Fergus, and yes the rest of the brothers? Yes, makes me want to read the series on.
5.0 out of 5 stars LEGACY OF LOVE 2 Aug. 2003
By B. Roby - Published on
Format: Mass Market Paperback Verified Purchase
In the second of the Highland Lords series, Ranney again focuses on the relationship between two lovers in the next generation of MacRaes.
Although Alisdair and Iseabal are thrown together as part of a vicious plot to control the land, they grow to know and love each other because of their shared commitment to the MacRae legacy.
So many times, when a book ends, the reader is left to speculate about what happens next. With Book Two, we are moved forward 30 years. We are able to learn what happened to Ian and Leitis after they left Scotland in Book One, and we are also able to look into the next generation and discover how the parents' legacy is handled with equal care by their oldest son.
