An unusual choice of novel for me but one which I thoroughly enjoyed reading. Three of the four school friends meet up again when Meg begins a quest to look for Rowan. The story is told from Jen's perspective who is mortified to learn that her long lost love, Starky is now married to Georgina. Sounds complicated but it's a good read with a brilliant twist.

When Good Friends Go Bad by Ellie Campbell

Jen the "tomboy", Georgina the "snob", Meg the "hippy" and Rowan the "shy, kind, naive one" were best friends in school. Then and incident occurred that tore the group apart. As they grew they all went their separate ways.

Many years later Jen gets a call from Meg. Meg says it is a matter of life and death to find Rowan. Reluctantly the three (Georgie, Jen & Meg) decide to do this. As they begin there quest to find their missing friend, old wounds are opened, secrets reveled, feelings gets hurt, resentments build, and some feel betrayed. Will this pull them all together again, or keep them apart forever?

A well written emotional story. I liked Jen, she is going through a divorce it is a rough time in her life. This is something a lot of women can relate to. Georgina is likable as well, although some find her a snob, I felt she was just opinionated. Meg the one you love to hate. She is not afraid to "tell-it-like-it-is" and them some, not worrying about the consequences. And Rowan, she was just so down to earth and likable.

The story was very good, there were so many secrets and "WOW" moments. I liked the whole concept of old friends trying to reunite, that (I believe) does happen in real life. We see them all go through many emotions from happy to sad. Each one is battling their own problems and trying to find their friend.

I highly recommend When Good Friends Go Bad to women (men too) who love a good emotional drama with a dash of romance and humor. A true 5 star read!

This is the third book I have read by this author and another book that I highly recommend. It explores how childhood friendships, between a mixed bunch of girls with very different characters, becomes tested over time with secrets, misunderstandings and betrayals. Thrown into the mix is romance, fun and a mystery to solve among a group of characters who, I am sure, readers will identify with - some of whom you will love, some you will not love so much! This is a chick-lit novel that has all the ingredients for a good read. Add Ellie Campbell's books to your reading list - you will not be disappointed.

Woefully predictable, cringe-making prose and whilst I could accept the US spellings when the American character was speaking, I didn't understand why they were there the rest of the time and they really started to grind after a while. I only stuck it to the end in the hope that there would be a surprising twist at the end. There wasn't.

Good story line, light entertaining read. Have only given 3stars as the book was supposedly set in GB, with British friends but was littered with American terms, which became irritating as the book wove on.

I found this a good read, some bits were quite heavy going - especially when the book jumped between the friends, but all in all a nice light read. I found some of the characters were me, me, me and as for Georgina's husband - sorry, I wanted to hit him with something very hard right across his smug face!! I have a couple of Ellie Campbell's books and will read them soon if they're like this one! Highly recommend this to anyone.
