Product description

Review

"Brooding, intense hero? Check. Feisty, intelligent heroine? Check. Nail-biting suspense and breath-taking romantic tension? Double-check. Amy Leigh Simpson's debut, When Fall Fades, is a unique and intense novel about overcoming old-wounds and broken dreams with the healing power of love. Set within the framework of a compelling, and sometimes chilling, mystery, Archer and Sadie create an unlikely pair to solve a murder that, not only puts them in jeopardy of losing their lives, but also their well-protected hearts. Simpson's descriptions, emotionally-riveting details, and sometimes evocative scenes keep the reader breathless from the first page to the last. A wonderful debut!" -- Pepper D. Basham, author of The Thorn Bearer and A Twist of Faith "When Fall Fades has a unique blend of sharp-witted characters, snappy dialogue, and a romance that practically sizzles off the page. With a killer on the loose and a mystery in need of solving, this story will be devoured from beginning to end." - Nicole Deese, author of the Letting Go series and the Love in Lenox series "It's hard to believe When Fall Fades is a debut novel. With smart dialogue, plenty of romantic tension, and well-crafted sentences that pull you right into the scene, Simpson is brilliant with a pen. You'll feel like you're traveling through the story with Archer and Sadie, and you'll be left wanting more when the ride comes to an end." - Amy Matayo, award-winning author of Sway and The Wedding Game

I loved this book and would have read it in one setting if sleep hadn't eventually got the better of me. It had all the hallmarks of a great romance - male and female leads who have traumatic events in their pasts which affect their ability to build relationships with others. Archer is an FBI agent who has to interview Sadie when her next door neighbour, Charlie, is found dead in his car. The mystery was well thought out and captivating. This is a Christian romance but if you're not one then please don't let that deter you from reading this. There were no preachy bits which can happen in some novels of this genre. The whole story was so satisfying from beginning to end. At no point did I get bored, rather I was worried that the book was coming to an end too fast for me! Was pleased to see this was the first in a series and I, for one, am looking forward to the next one already. Would definitely appeal to fans of Becky Wade, Melissa Tagg and Beth K Vogt.

Super engaging mystery with a great balance of romance and suspense. The characters were not stereotypical - Sadie wasn't a damsel in distress and Archer was not just a knight in shining armour. Their relationship is so entertaining, especially Sadie's sass, she has a lot of it! Their chemistry is OFF the charts, like seriously, WAY OFF! Simpson has mastered the art for writing romantic tension - which is impressive since this is her debut. Sadie and Archer have both been through so much and are hurting in their own way but this murder mystery brings them together in unexpected ways and they begin to see that maybe they can help each other heal - with God's help of course. The tender message of hope was so refreshing. So glad this is a series because I can't wait to read the next one!!

Wow, what a brilliant book! Great romance de great mystery and great adventure, what more could you ask for.
Also I loved that the characters in this book were Christian without it being at all preachy or cheesy. More of the same please Amy Leigh Simpson!

5.0 out of 5 stars Lyrical, tension-filled and full of heart...a sweet and gritty debut by an author to watch 31 Mar. 2016
By Julia M. Reffner - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
As a reviewer for a large magazine, my home bookshelves have become one large slush pile with too many titles to compete for my attention. A novel needs to be impossible to put down and When Fall Fades fits the bill. Simpson's sassy spunky heroine Sadie Carson takes the reader along on a roller-coaster ride of emotion and thrilling suspense with more than a dash of heart. This debut author has mastered the balance between lyrical poetic writing and nail-biting suspense. Throw in historical intrigue, romantic tension ratcheted sky-high, gritty raw emotion...and Simpson has branded herself as "one to watch."

5.0 out of 5 stars When it all fades... 15 Oct. 2015

When it ALL fades! Please excuse the play on words; I couldn't help myself. However, it does describe what happened when I read this book. I ignored the cooking, the cleaning and according to my fiance... him. I actually gauge a book by how engrossed I become. From the current state of my house, this is a GOOD one.

When Fall Fades is a magical blend of romance and mystery. The romance is all steam without the smut and the mystery is all whodunit without the he did it. Simpson's characters were beautifully developed and I found myself invested in their story. I actually wish I had a "Charlie" in my life. Scenes are painted with care and I had no trouble becoming immersed in Sadie's world. I will be keeping an eye out for the next book in this series.

5.0 out of 5 stars gritty and sizzling 17 Dec. 2015
By Robin E Mason - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
Crushed dreams leave scars. Just ask Sadie Carson. When one dream was lost, she cast another one aside along with it. And settled for a life that, while satisfying, was not complete, was not true. Was not really her.
FBI Agent Archer Hayes has his life tightly under wraps, aka control. And for him, it’s all about the job.
When Sadie’s next door neighbor is found murdered, the connection between her and Agent Hayes is unexpected and unwelcome. And undeniable.
Can Archer Hayes let down the neatly constructed walls that have provided a haven of safety—and isolation—for so many years? Will Sadie let go of one broken dream—and her broken heart and embrace a new dream? Or are the obstacles too much for them to overcome?

Ms. Simpson writes with fiery realism, characters I could easily sit down and chat with. The fears and desires and longings are tangible in Ms. Simpson’s words, vivid, drawing me into the middle of the action. Into the angst. And the internal struggles both characters face. As they unravel the mystery behind her neighbor’s death, will they also unravel the cage that has kept both their hearts prisoner?

Bravo for a finely crafted debut novel! I await many more by this talented new author!

5.0 out of 5 stars 5 Star Debut Novel 29 Oct. 2015
By LAM - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
What an amazing combination of mystery, suspense, romance, anger, anguish, trepidation, lust... The list could go on, but I'll stop. I planned on reading this book over the course of the next week or so, and instead finished it while traveling for business, in between meetings, in less than two days - needless to say it's a story you just can't put down. Sadie is such a relatable character that it's easy to slip into her shoes while reading the book. Archer has just enough of his character veiled to keep you wanting to know more of his past. And Charlie makes me want to go hug my Grandpa. Although few of us will ever experience anything like the story that brings these characters together, their story hits home and can easily bring you back to your own relationships, baggage and faith.

I cannot wait for the next book in the series (and am keeping my fingers crossed that is has something to do with Finn and Joss!)

5.0 out of 5 stars Sizzling romance - but with actual character depth! 29 April 2016
By Jessica Truskwoski - Published on Amazon.com

If I were to create or imagine my perfect book, it would look something like this.

This book really does have it all, as other reviewers have described. Aside for the what others have written, I really loved all of the hot-and-heavy romance/tension between the main characters, WITHOUT it taking a sleazy turn. You really can't find books, movies, or TV shows like this anymore. Can this be made into a movie please?
