Product Description

Product Description

Action comedy starring Jackie Chan. A pair of fast food workers (Chan and Yuen Biao) are forced to rely on their martial arts know-how when they meet up with a countess who is being kept from her inheritance by a gang of hoods. The two friends team up with a private investigator chum (Sammo Hung, who also directs) and set out to kick some villainous butt.

From Amazon.co.uk

A truly international production, Wheels on Meals teams up Jackie Chan, Sammo Hung, and Yuen Biao in a comedic-action-crime caper that includes what some consider one of the greatest fight scenes ever filmed. Directed by Hung, the movie takes place in Spain, marking the first Jackie Chan vehicle set in a non-Asian location. Chan and Biao play two lunch-truck restaurateurs who are trying to make a living selling egg rolls and hamburgers in the busy squares of Barcelona. Hung is a novice private investigator searching for a beautiful pickpocket named Sylvia (Lola Ferner) whose thieving teams her up with Chan and Yuen. Sylvia is kidnapped after she discovers she is actually a wealthy heiress, and that's when Chan, Yuen and Hung join forces to free her and kick some bad guys' butts. Wheels on Meals is light-hearted fun with stunts and action scenes (including skateboarding tricks and a scene in which Chan and Yuen face off against a motorbike gang) that simply reaffirm the stars' physical and comic talents. The celebrated fight scene is a match between Chan and international kickboxing champion Benny "the Jet" Urquidez. The intensity of their scenes together spurred rumours of a rivalry beyond the film. Whether or not this was true, the two paired up again four years later in Dragons Forever. As for the nonsensical title, one theory claims the film's distributor (Golden Harvest) had little success with films whose titles started with "m" so they simply switched the two words around. --Shannon Gee, Amazon.com --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

Wheels on Meals is one of the greatest comedy/action movies produced by the Hong Kong film industry. These kind of movies are no longer made and why, I have no idea.

The movie was released in 1984 to deserved widespread critical acclaim and box-office success.

The theme of the movie is comedy and martial-arts action, both of these elements are impressively combined to produce pure entertainment.

The movie stars Jackie Chan, Summo Hung (Also the director of the movie) & Yuen Biao in lead roles. These three actors were the biggest stars in Hong Kong in the 80's and were referred to as the 'THREE BROTHERS'. The chemistry between the brothers is excellent, which they also proved when they starred together in 'PROJECT A' and 'DRAGONS FOREVER'. All three actors perform the comic and action scenes with natural flare and great skill.

Jackie Chan as usual is the numero uno entertainer in the movie with his natural charisma and fighting talent. This is easily one of Chan's greatest movies. Summo Hung is perfect in the comic scenes and impressive in the action scenes as well. You'll be surprised to see how physically flexible Hung is during fights since he is quite big in body size. Yuen Biao who is very underrated and always overlooked is equally as talented as Chan when it comes to martial arts or comedy. However, he has never reached his true potential. In the movie, he is a joy to watch especially when he fights against one of the villains played by Keith Vitali in the climax.

The show stealer of the movie is the beautifully chroeographed action scenes, which are naturally performed by the lead actors without the use of strings or computer generated imagery.

Awesome film!!! When I first watched this film years ago I became a fan and ever since then liked Jackie much more than Bruce Lee. The guy has got 9 lives and you can see why in this film. The fights are soooo well co-ordinated and the comedy that what makes the guy awesome. If you like this one then get: Operation Condor: Armor of God and Project A part I

The first time I watched Wheels on Meals,I found it extremely entertaining, the jokes and fight scenes are tuned almost to perfection, especially Chan and Biaos' visit to a mental institution and the finale with Chan and Benny "The Jet" Urquidez beating the living hell out of each other. However, with this fight scene being so realistically violent, you cannot help but think it is a tad out of place in a film which contains so much comedy. This is only a minor gripe, however, because this film will keep you glued to your seat for the whole of its' duration. An essential purchase for any Chan fan.

One of the big complaints with the Amazon Prime video service is that they seem to only have the dubbed version. This is Chinese with English subtitles. Shame it's set in Spain so the non Chinese actors sound really strange.

This was the first jackie chan film i ever watched and in my opinion, his best. Fantastic locations and cast, especially the ultra flexible and over-looked Yuen Biao, make this film a must have for any die hard martial arts and action film lover.
A true classic!!!!
