Product Description

Product Description

(What's The Story) Morning Glory?, the follow-up to debut album Definitely Maybe, is Oasis's biggest-selling album with 22 million copies sold worldwide. It was recorded between May and June 1995 in Rockfield Studios, Monmouthshire, with Owen Morris and Noel Gallagher producing. Released on October 2nd 1995 it spent 10 weeks at No.1, is the 5th biggest-selling album in UK chart history and became the band's breakthrough album in the US where it sold 4 million copies. The new edition has been remastered from the original tapes by Ian Cooper at London's Metropolis Studios, supervised by the album's producer Owen Morris. A small army of contributors including original members of the inner circle who were involved in studio and live recordings came together to hunt down unheard demos and live material. The team also unearthed a wealth of never-seen-before photos and vintage memorabilia which will be included in the new artwork.

Alongside the remastered album, the Special Edition includes two CD's of all the B-sides plus rare and unreleased Oasis tracks from the Morning Glory era.

Highlights of the bonus content include:

• Previously unheard demos of She's Electric and Rockin' Chair recorded at Mark Coyle's Manchester studio. Demos of Some Might Say, Hey Now, and Bonehead's Bank Holiday recorded by Mark Coyle for the first time at the band's soundcheck, Club Quattro in Tokyo in September 1994 br> • Live recordings from legendary gigs such as Knebworth House, Maine Road Stadium, Earls Court, and Bath Pavilion
• All of the Morning Glory singles and acclaimed B-sides including Talk Tonight, Acquiesce, The Masterplan, and Underneath The Sky.

Of course this album is a Britpop classic par excellence all swagger attitude and tunes the soundtrack of a generation. Disc 2 and 3 are great collating all the b sides and rarities. But the remastering is awful. Everything has had the life compressed out of it another brickwall travesty. Noel's backing vocals and all the acoustic guitar tracks are just compressed into background mush with very little definition. Liam's right how can you remaster something that has already been mastered correctly in the first place? Best version is an original vinyl with Bonehead's Bank Holiday. The SACD version is great too. Or just an original CD version. Still the extras on CD2 and 3 are great. Favourite being the Lynch Mob version of Champagne Supernova. I'm guessing the songs on CD2 and 3 have not been butchered by brick wall remastering as well.

As with the previous album the Definitely Maybe re-mastered the bass on this has been massively upped, to listen loud but in comfort you need to have either a pop setting or a graphic equaliser and take the bass right down. Other than that it's a good job done, the vocals have been greatly improved on both the original album re-master and the extra tracks, the clarity although better still means the original mater still has it's place, not everybody's cup of tea but don't let anything put you off buying this.

Disc's 2 and 3 are worth having even if you like the mix of the album re-master, I have most of the tracks on Japanese issues or rarities and re-mastered I found them a lot better clarity. Unlike DM I don't think most of these tracks are meant to played full pelt, it's nice to hear tracks like Talk Tonight, It's Better People, The Masterplan and Brendon Lynch's mix of Champagne Supernova and and able to hear the instruments separated, Paul Wellers lead sections on CS is fantastic hearing the solo's as they really should have been!!!!!!!!!!!! Overall well impressed with the work done on both re-masters!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Very happy with this! Excellent music with a nice smattering of b-sides, rarities, demos etc. The overall package is well put together.
Definitely Maybe and Morning Glory defined their era. Both the deluxe editions are great mementos of those times.

This was brought for my son-in-law who is putting a vinyl collection together and who wouldn't put this in a classic collection. Never liked the Gallagher brother's attitude but their music has the quality of a modern day Beatles as most of their music bears witness to.

Vinyl (remastered) version sounds like it was they used the masters and stuck them in a mail sack. It is muddy and the base is not existent. Compared to the original 1995 CD both English and American releases that have full sound and booming base this Record needs smashing. Newly pressed doesn't mean better. A waste of time play the CD version. Waste of money sunshine!

Amazing album - the soundtrack to my youth. Lightning deal price was more apt than the usual retail price which is way too expensive for what's in the box. A nice addition to my oasis collection though that's been building since 1994. Roll on the Be Here Now reissue
