The traditional role of the accountant is changing fast and alongside rapid developments in the technological world, this is a challenging time for anyone offering accounting, bookkeeping or other business advisory services. This books encourages us all to review what services we are providing and how best to work alongside our clients rather than just providing an end service as was previously expected. With ever increasing compliance and greater reporting requirements, it is imperative that small businesses which are the backbone of our economy are supported and our job is to enable and motivate them by being proactive and dynamic in how we deliver services and help clients develop their businesses, structure our pricing and respond to changing demands within the profession. This is a great book which invites us to take a long hard look at how all of us can change our mindsets in order to provide a better service to benefit both ourselves and our clients - win, win!

As an accountant in public practise this book highlights the need for us to change from our traditional role of back office number cruncher and form fillers to that of our clients principle trusted advisor.
The book outline the need for change as well as providing a path to follow to enable us to provide our clients with the support they will need to make their businesses and thereby implication our own businesses successful in an environment where compliance work is at best a commodity and more likely to be done by automated systems.
By providing his reasoning for the need for change as well as sharing his own experience of these changes Shane Lukas has brought his message home is a very direct way to his target audience.

Having turned 40 last year and an accountant with over 20 years experience, in an ever changing profession in a digital world, I recently asked myself the question' What's Next for Accountants' or more importantly 'What's Next for ME!' and if by magic Shane's book crossed my path! This is a great insight into another Accountant's world and perspective and I feel is a must read for any accountant, new or old. I have always been good at what I do but I am not a salesman, but this book has given me the motivation and a path to follow for my next chapter of my career and move myself and my business forward.

If I could go back in time and give myself this book at the age of 20 in a Marty Mcfly moment I would, and it would sit proudly next to my Frank Woods Business Accounting 1 - the bible of study!

With major changes in automated bookkeeping software the role of the accountant is going to change.
The traditional role of preparing annual accounts will aloso change with Making Tax Digital so now is a good time to embrace the advancements in bookkkeeping software and to move to a more consulting style of accountancy.
This book shows accountants how to to adapt for the future in a systematic way. A most sueful book which also provides references to other resources.
