Kayla goes to Herber Springs when she hears that the shale gas industry wants to steal her newspaper column. She meets Grayson there and he’s recovering from a divorce. Kayla is fun and funny as well as very observant. I felt this was the most fun of the Anna Premoli books I have reviewed as the plot was more engaging and the characters were more real and realistic. Parts are like Sex and the City (pink martinis) and Kayla’s thoughts and musings about life and love. There’s glamour, humour and Kayla is a fantastic character. This is a relaxing page turner. Will Kayla find love? Will Greyson get over his divorce?
4 stars. Thanks to Anna Premoli and Aria for my copy in exchange for an honest and voluntary review as well as my blog tour slot for the title.
I'm sorry because I have loved some of Anna Premoli's other books but I can not stand either of the protagonists. Kayla is immature and frankly an embarrassment to women everywhere and Greyson is so busy being enigmatic that he is just a meaningless blob. It's clear at nearly halfway through the book that there is absolutely no journalism, shallow or investigative, going on as Kayla and Greyson swap innuendos.
I have yet to see a plot, or even development of a relationship.
I received a free copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in return for an honest review.
Such a lovely, light hearted, romantically cute book. It is guaranteed to make you smile. If you want to switch off from the world and read a book that you don’t have to think about reading because it flows perfectly, has fantastic characters, a great storyline and laugh out loud moments this book is for you.
The Blurb : Kayla David is a high-flying journalist in New York City, spending all her time drinking martinis and writing about fashion trends. She is perfectly happy with her life, and she certainly has no time for falling in love. That is, until, her boss decides to send her on a secret mission back to her hometown of Arkansas: she is tasked with exposing the truth about the fracking industry and to use her reputation as a lifestyle columnist as a disguise. She is horrified at the thought of returning to this boring country town, but up for the challenge. Yet, she didn't plan on having to deal with Grayson Moir, the sexy but aloof mayor of Heber Spring. As Kayla settles into life there she soon realises that it might be a bit more difficult than she thought to keep her real mission a secret. And what's more, she finds it increasingly difficult to keep her heart under control too...
My Thoughts : I loved the blurb of this book as to me it was going to be a story about a Boston city girl returning to life living in the country. When Kayla David is sent to Heber Spring in Arkansas to investiagte the shale gas industry, she is to use her lifestyle column as a cover to why she is there. To write her article she has to meet the Mayor and he unexpectedly comes in the form of handsome Grayson Moir. There is an instant attraction between the couple but Grayson is still getting over a tricky divorce from 3 years previous. With both Kayla and Grayson not ready for any commitment or to let their barriers down can the couple get on or is this all about getting the job done!. Although this has a predictable ending I still really enjoyed the storyline and enjoyed watching Kayla and Grayson’s relationship develop. This is a sweet read, both charactors are funny and there is humour and romance aswell. Anna Premoli has captured the town beautifully and I love that when you read about a place you can almost feel yourself there. Will certainly read more from this Author.
Kayla is a very modern women living in New York as a journalist. Her boss asks her to check out shale gas drilling in small town Arkansas. She goes to say with her forever young aunt. Kayla is not looking for a long term relationship but finds local Mayor Grayson who came from big business but has now taken on small town life. Kayla is a fish out of water but the colourful residents of Heber Spring and Grayson see through her sarcastic witt and humour which has become her armour. You will love this romance for how people can find each other but not try to change each other’s individual characteristics. I would certainly recommend following more stories by Anna Premoli. I was given an ARC of this book by NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
Hold on to your hats, because if you enjoy a little sex and a lot of innuendo and flirting, then this is the book for you!
Kayla is a forthright lady who knows what she wants and isn't afraid to ask for it and Greyson is a man who isn't into casual sex, no matter how tempting. It makes for interesting reading as Kayla tries her best to seduce a man, only for that man to continually refuse to succumb to her. There is a huge amount of sexual tension running through the story and some fairly explicit scenes, but these don't occur in isolation as there is a strong enough plot for them to hang on.
Seeing both of the main characters grow and develop throughout the course of the story was definitely a plus and one of the best bits.
This book was a big disappointment. Previous books from Anna were fun read with a story. This one was full of sex and erotic scenes and nothing else.Less is sometimes more. Kayla is shallow and I really don't understand what Greyson found attractive on her. Hope the next one is better.
