An excellent example of Waits at his creepy storytelling best. We've all maybe thought the same thing about our neighbour 'What's he building in there', although maybe not letting our imagination run wild in the same paranoid fashion as Waits. Ind the end you begin to wonder who is truly weird, the guy doing the building behind closed doors or the guy telling the story. Very strange but you can almost imagine him busting a gut laughing after he's told the tale - he had you hooked all the way to the end with his 3 dimensional characters.

Tom has made a very paranoid piece here and is the basis of many American "get the stranger" movies. Most uncomfortable.
