Whilst not a massive fan of the 'Wisdom' films, this stands by itself.

A friend of Norman's once told me that Wisdom had a delightful and wonderful time making this picture with Sally Geeson - and one can see why! Sally would not stay in pictures long, and should have made more movies - she was great in this! (as are both the Geesons whatever they appear in) Sally too, certainly looked as if she was having fun making this film, and this is definitely a 'feel good' movie that will appeal to many.

Norman Wisdom was well into his fifties when he made this, and certainly looked very fit and healthy for that age, and for that time - looking very attractive in some shots too! Quite a late film for Norman and a somewhat 'new' genre for him. This movie was pretty daring in some instances, and how they got away with the two fingers in the mouth whilst they were driving along is quite amazing! (remember; this was forty years ago!!)

The thing that probably held this film back, and did not do it any favours, was its title - not very imaginative. Considering its vivaciousness, it should have had something more exciting as its name.

Terry Alexander also stars - looking good as always, and some other well-know faces, including David Lodge.

There's a great theme song to this to which also does the movie some great justice.

A very pleasant film with a very light story line but a good, though slightly stereotyped performance from Norman. A pity he was not able to get away from his rather silly character that he played well in his earlier days.
Has been edited very heavily and the 'saucy' scenes with Sally Geeson cut. A good view though.

Whilst 'What's Good For The Goose' is not your typical knockabout Wisdom film - it's certainly great fun. It also demonstrates that Norman Wisdom really is a first class comic actor.

This is basically the tale of a middle-class, middle-manager having a mid-life crisis! A bankers' conference in sunny Southport sees Wisdom's Assistant Bank Manager character meeting and falling madly 'in lust' with a care-free 'hippy chick', played by the lovely Sally Geeson.

This film was originally released in the 1960's and was probably considered quite risque back then. Nowadays, it's best regarded as a mildly sexy, comic love story - with Wisdom bringing out real pathos in his character as he morphs from the uptight, staid bank manager into a bit of a casanova!

If you are a Wisdom fan you'll love this. If you're a fan of the 60's likewise. Great fun - and do look out for a cameo appearance from 60's rock gods The Pretty Things as the club house band! Four stars.

Basically an exploitation film which flopped in it's time, starring Norman Wisdom. It is certainly Wisdom who provides the laughter throughout with his slapstick style and cheeky little face, otherwise the dialogue is pretty poor. It is good to have a glimpse at the psychedelic scene of of the late 60's and Southport, where the film is set.
The Highlights of the movie are the two club scenes (reminicent of Blow-up) with The Electric Banana(Pretty Things) performing some brilliant rarities. Overall the film is fun and for the most part enjoyable. I would recommend this to anyone who is interested in 60's culture or is a fan of The Pretty Things.

This is a good period 'romp'. I like Norman Wisdom and if you do too you'll like this film. He hangs out with some cool cats in swinging Southport in the sixties! Its fun even if to just see Southport in the sixites! There is a cool club scene with the Pretty Things performing, which is remeniscent of the Yardbirds in Blow Up. All in all an entertaining little film.

A delightfully innocent film that it great for a rainy afternoon. No great drama, just actors from many British films you have seen many times before giving jolly good performances. Perhaps not for the under 40's but a good view never the less. The much touted 'nude' scenes from Sally Geeson are cut, and only available on the 'continental' version, thought where one can obtain that is anyones guess. However a pleasant watch.
