At 5 months pregnant with my first I thought I'd give this a go, although I was a little worried about whether I wanted to hear the truth! I have just read it in one sitting whilst darling husband snores peacefully next to me. At one point I was laughing so hard I was worried I would wake him! I did shed a tear or two, although mostly from laughing (that's what I'm telling myself!). So refreshing for someone to tell the truth at last - we know motherhood isn't going to be the coo-ing filled blissful existence some would like us to believe, but being able to laugh about the reality is a relief to say the least. Thanks Hayley.

Another 'i know better than anyone' book about child birth.
What no one actually tells you about having a baby is that it is your baby, you will know instinctively what they need and just because something happened to or for another woman, doesn't mean it will happen to you!!
There are some humourous bits here such as the first time bubs poops in the bath (i'm still waiting for this inevitable occurrance 7 months in). But there is also an awful lot of arrogant, and unhelpful info such as 'you'll never have sex again' 'your lady parts will be mangled' and so on. I garauntee you will want and have sex again, and you might be a bit sore for a while but the old tallula will return to her former glory soon enough! Be encouraged, millions of women have not done this across the ages and then immediately given up!! I stopped reading pregnancy related paraphanalia after this....maybe i am the exception to the rule...

This was a lovely bitesize book. I was able to read it in little over a day despite juggling a demanding 14 week old, two utterly daft dogs and organising a husband who works away.

Some brilliantly observed episodes that I completely empathized with. One made me laugh so much I was choking and to put the book down until the morning. Found the chapter on airtravel brilliant as we have a long haul flight booked for when baby is 10 months and am already worrying about it despite being accompanied by a very hands on 9 year old plus grandad and aunty!

Would love to read another instalment from this author. Perhaps the toddler years?

After reading the short intro on my kindle I thought this might be useful (my wife is pregnant!). Only problem was that after I paid my £1.53 (last of the big spenders), I realised it is the shortest book in the history of the world. This is obviously a cynical ploy by this woman to cash in. I bet all those £1.53's add up. She probably wrote this in an afternoon or two. At that rate she probably has about a thousand 'novel's to her name.

Lightbulb moment- What am I doing writing reviews on Amazon when I could do what she does?...........

When I was expecting my first baby I bought three different pregnancy books the size of doorstops. They all gave slightly different advice on what to do and expect at birth; what happens after baby arrives and how to get back into shape! I thought I was the only exception to the rule when hardly any of it rang true in my own experience. I read this little book and quite frankly I think it should be included in the Bounty pack!

All the baby books I've read have been detailed and scientific so I found this book light relief. It gives funny accounts of events in real life situations.
I am of course now dreading tiredness, pooing and screaming matches :)

Excellent read. It's reassuring to know other people feel the same. Laughed all the way through. Would recommend to any new parents.

Read this book when my daughter was 1 week old. A lot of the things ring true already. It was very funny in places which did nothing for my c section incision but certainly improved my sleep deprived morale!!
