Though this may be considered quite an 'advanced' subject for a 2.5year old, my daughter really enjoys this book. The style in which it is written is easy to understand for her and she takes great delight in telling me what things around the house are i.e. whether they are solid, liquid or gas...so based on that, I have to say - a great learning book!!

The illustrations and typesetting captivates the kids' attention.

I do not homeschool my kids but, this book is a great learning supplement. It teaches the facts without forcing the topic. I plan to buy the whole series.

I don't know how much of phase transition my five-year old son really understood after reading this book, but this book has certainly attracted his attention. After I read the first page, he asked me to read the whole book for him.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great discussion starter for young children 7 May 2009
By Lady Atana - Published on Amazon.com

After reading this to my daughter last night, we engaged in a 30 minute long game of "Solid, Liquid, or Gas?" The book does a great job of explaining the states of matter. For the "Try It Yourself" sections it, of course, uses water for a test subject, going through freezing, evaporation, and condensation. I had to promise that we would do the experiments today.

Once again, I would recommend this book to anyone wanting to teach their young children about basic science.

5.0 out of 5 stars Neat Little Series 26 Dec. 2010
By The Coach - Published on Amazon.com

There are a lot of these little books and they all are very well done. Our kids love the idea of getting to know about SCIENCE. The 7th grade teachers I work with even use it with their kids in Science class. Try From Tadpole to Frog (Let's-Read-and-Find-Out Science 1).

As I am adding product links I see that Amazon has over 600 titles in this series listed
