I love Amanda's very emotional expressions in her writing. As if she knows the pain, the suffering and also the healing of every woman she writes about.

She has mentioned that her books are written for women, especially opening the gates for self love and confidence. Her works so far, have been about battered women. Whether the protagonist drown herself in alcoholism, as in the previous book I read "Another Love" which is equally mesmerizing or an abused wife - this one - both these books brought so much understanding and joy. Reading the lines, I could feel them, as if they are my neighbors. Amanda has the power to make her characters come alive.

A poignant story no doubt, but the message is always about strength and love, about starting over again. About forgiveness, especially forgiving yourself. And it is ok.

I have a few more Amanda's books in my collection. This is only the second book I read from this fantastic author. I'm going to enjoy more of her works. For this book, another 5-star.

In the last few months I discovered Amanda Prowse and having been very impressed by some of her other works I decided to give this a go. Awful read awful characters. I didn't even finish it. I know how domestic abuse can drag a person down to the depths of despair but why did she have two children with this man? Why would you let him cut and rape you every single night. So very far fetched and horrible ideas. Weak people and unrealistic.

Amanda Prowse has done it again. Grabbed me on the front page and didn't let go until the very end. Amanda is so talented that she makes you believe that the characters are real people. I didn't feel as though I were reading a book but reading about the lives of a family. Truly believable and very real. Poor Kate. I felt for her. If I could give it 10 stars I would.

This wasn't one of my favourites by Amanda, I have to say. I am not a huge lover of going back and forward in time as it can cause confusion and realising which bit of the story we are up to. It was an ok read but for me, was not one of her better ones.

When I picked this book up I thought oh just another everyday novel. Was I wrong after the first few pages I was gripped and couldn't believe that people could actually behave the way Mark did.... I think I must have been wrapped up in a cotton wool world, but recently having seen more and more of controlling behaving coming out in the media.... well I will leave you to read the book. Exceptionally well written. Have now read three of her novels and cant wait to read more

Definitely a book that I would have liked to discuss at a book club. I love the way it was written in flashback form. It gave you time to think about the characters and how they fitted together. I felt incensed and full of rage one moment and then calmed by how God "gave back the years that the locusts had eaten" to Kate and finally to her and her family..

I still cannot fathom why a woman could live like this for so many years.. why her children should alienate her when they knew what their father had put her through.. Maybe I do need to discuss this book with others to gain an understanding of its story??

This book gripped me from page own. It's a very harrowing story of mental and physical abuse which at times was hard to read, as we all know these things actually happen. I love the way Amanda Prowse writes and have read several of her books, as they're so believable .Recommended
