Of course, some of the statements are outdated - it was written in the late 1980's and the world and women have moved on since then. But much of the male behaviour described by Dr JB still exists and it's enlightening to either know why this is so, or for women to know the best way to deal with it and so get the best out of a relationship. If men are offended, it's because they don't want to recognise themselves.

First published in 1983, What Every Woman Should Know About Men explains to women how, and why, men are different. Written primarily for single and married women over twenty five, Brothers is a source for understanding evolving thoughts and beliefs on male and female differences.

Brother's strongly implies that many of the characteristics of men are universal. She also implies the same about the nature of women. Although Dr. Brothers addresses individualistic male and female characteristics, it is frequently a passing thought. There are clearly some generalities about the nature of men and women that need to be explored, but focusing on these characteristics without adequately addressing the wide array of individuality of men and women is a deficiency of this book.

HASH(0xa2ab0ce4) out of 5 stars Blueprint for better relationships 31 Dec. 1999
By Vereline - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Mass Market Paperback
Since reading this book about 6 years ago I've looked in every bookstore to obtain my own copy without success. I found this book to be quite enlightening with respect to why males think and behave differently to women and the critical role females play in understanding these differences thus creating more effective and fulfilling relationships. I think it can also assist some males in better understanding themselves.

HASH(0xa2afc354) out of 5 stars EVERY WOMAN SHOULD READ THIS 9 May 2013

I red this book the first time early in our marriage. It gave me the insight to the working of the male mind. Good thing. I wound up with husband and two sons. As we have aged together, it helped me help the men in my life through their various crises. I am convinced that this little book helped us to have a good marriage - 42 years and counting. Thank you Dr. Brothers.

I bought this book out of morbid curiosity. It's so out-dated, it will enrage any modern day feminist. It's rather offensive to males as well.
