About the Author
Lynn Mather is professor of law and political science at the University at Buffalo Law School, State University of New York. She is coeditor of the Chicago Series in Law and Society and coauthor of several books, including "Private Lawyers and the Public Interest."
Excellent research is evident in this profile of a law firm at a particular point in its life cycle, as it moved from acquirer to ultimately being acquired itself. The social and political dynamics of a people institution are analysed as the underlying profit motive on which it is based is pursued. I found the analysis precise without getting lost in the politics of the firm, or the personalities involved.
