I find myself only the second person to review this book since it was added to Amazon. Yet I am glad to offer my thoughts because I was saddened to read the first so called reviewers comments (although they chose not to identify themselves). This was because they comprised of a deluge of very biased, rather intolerant opinion, based on nothing tangible. I can only assume that it was not their intention to read or consider logically what the book actually said but to simply leave their mark of intolerance on what is a very factual and reasoned collection of essays with much historical background research.
This is a very well constructed and informative book with much historical reference and research. June Cash wanted to bring an awareness of a sense of urgency to a nation that is fast losing its Christian witness and foundations. Unfortunately she died before she had hardly started the beginning of the book but the publishers were able to take up her God given cause and we should all be grateful.
The second observation I would make about this rather unhelpful reviewer is to remind them and anyone else that we still live in what is supposedly, at the moment, a Christian country. Christianity is about one thing only; that we would believe in truth as spoken about by Jesus Christ and in the Judeo Christian scriptures. It was Jesus himself who said - “I am the way, the truth and the light” and “no one can come to father except through me” (John 14:6). Clearly however one looks at it, this is a very fundamentalist statement to be sure and one that has never been made by anyone else who has ever lived - the question that must be answered therefore is - IS THIS STATEMENT TRUE?Read more ›
Christian concern is a political organisation that is extremely intolerant of many minority rights, It promotes an idea that christians are persecuted in the UK when they are asked to abide by the same law of the land as everyone else, it is virulently homophobic and intolerant towards minority religious rights and the rights of atheists and secular religious.
One of their main gripes is that Christianity in the form they demand it must take is not promoted and abided by the state, in particular they want faith based beliefs taught alongside evolution and other scientific facts, they want their prayers and teachings to have priority and view any sort of equal treatment of all believers and non believers as persecution.
Christian concern wants a theocratic state- the only people who value this book will be their fellow travelers because they like to be told that they are right and everyone else is victimising them. ,
