After calling time on "The Calling" in 2005, Alex Band's solo career had been somewhat of a slow starter. Numerous delays and issues with his record label resulted in a five year wait for new music.
(He did release a six song EP in 2008; "Only One" is the only track from that record to make this album)
Fast forward to June 2010, and "We've All Been There" finally hits stores, so exactly what has Alex delivered?
Well, in eight years since worldwide smash hit single "Wherever You Will Go" Alex has given us the exact same pop rock formula, quiet verse, loud chorus scenario over and over again to catchy melody after catchy melody.
Is that a bad thing? No not really. It's commercially viable, radio friendly and should earn him a legion of new fans. Why then will most people not hear it? Simply because Alex doesn't have the support of a major label anymore, lead single "Tonight" passed through radio airwaves like water through a sieve and unfortunately future singles will probably go the same way.
None of that's Alex's fault of course, musically "We've All Been There" is a very solid record, probably better than his second album with "The Calling" which in the end sold around two million copies worldwide.
Other notable songs on here include "Never Let You Go" and "Love," the latter down in 13th place which isn't a fair reflection of this songs strength.
Overall, "We've All Been There" doesn't set any new musical boundaries for Alex Band. It's what you might call a "safe" record, nothing more, nothing less.

I have always liked Band's vocal dynamics, and song arrangements/structure and having seen this album I thought I'd give it a punt. So often have my favourite artists disappointed after a second album, but this is not one of those. The songs are beautifully crafted, emotional and intersting. For the first time since I was a kid, I've found an album where NONE of the tracks get skipped through (although Only One is my least favourite). I usually discard albums after being bored after a few listens, but I listened to this on repeat during a long car journey and I'm still finding things about it I love and listening to it daily. This album is really going to be the soundtrack of my late 20s. I cannot pick a stand-out track, each song has something amazing about it. I'm so happy to have discovered this album.

I've been a fan of 'The Calling' from day 1 and Alex Band's new album doesn't disappoint. In fact it could easily have been called 'The Calling 3' but Alex has to make a name for himself in his own right now that he has moved on from his earlier band members. Full of easy listening songs you can leave playing day and night long, this album is a must for any 'The Calling' fans and to everyone who appreciates good vocals and lyrics combined.
After all these years away, I really hope Alex Band gets the appreciation he fully deserves.

THE CALLING which maybe a band who had little help from their record company, they didnt really help to promote their second album "two" might maybe still be with us today if not for lack of support { or co song writer aaron karmin lack of wanting to tour and help alex promote}..
so alex went solo, this for many fans seemed to be perfect, here is a guy who can SING, WRITE SONGS ,PLAY INSTRUMENTS, which is a dying talent for many solo artists today. after geffen got alex on bored and alex got on with making his album geffen wanted alex to do other projects {did you know alex was asked to sing with akon?} but alex who strongley did not want this and knew in his own head what he wanted didnt cave and stood by his own album, geffen wanted other things so alex left,,, lol some months and months and months later {us die hard fans were waiting so long} alex told us that he would be setting up his own label and buying his own album back off geffen, this album is his own auto biography, many tracks were about his pain with geffen and splitting up with jen, other are about telling us if were down and out we have to move on, "forever yours" is a track i can point out as being the most catchy song on the album and will remind me of 2010 summer because it was never stopped being played in my house, phone, i pod.. "holding on" is another track which after i hear it everytime i get a huge sense of my own personal struggle of not accepting my ex is gone lol its crazy but i think 99% of the tracks you can put your own life through the beautifuly crafted lyrics.. its like a jorney from start to finsh, the final track "start over again" caps off the album with a fantastic all out rock score and makes you ask yourself some questions about if you have lost someone and dont know if your ready to move on....
alex band has put so much time {and money!!!} into making this album happen, he deserves to make it a solo artist because the guy is one of a kind, and alot of music is dying,
