I chose this book because I had read some stories written by one of the authors and really enjoyed them. This book was slightly disappointing and not of the same standard. I wanted to like it, but although I love to read to enter a fantasy world, I could not get that "connection" to any of the characters to do so. I think it would maybe have worked better if lots of the superfluous bits had been cut and it had just been presented as a short story. At the start of the story, the heroine was a teenager wanting to work her way through college. OK. But then years later (10 years? can't remember the number) - she has the exact same personality and still appears to think and act like the little girl at the beginning - which DOES NOT make her likeable, more annoying. Also, it sort of stretched it a bit that it took 10 years to study to be a PI??? Really?? Too much of a stretch even for fiction and allowing for the fact that English wasn't her first language and she had to work her way through college!
That said, I didn't hate it and I am hoping that the next story in the series will improve.

5.0 out of 5 stars EXPLOSIVE DYNAMICS = #SERIES = WEST HOLLYWOOD = WEREWOLF INTERRUPTED (#1) Eve Paludan [C.M.Liebel Review] 26 Mar. 2014
By Charlotte M. Liebel - Published on Amazon.com

Explosive dynamics, twists and turns, and a family link to historical Russian aristocracy. Uniquely tied murders, mysteries, and love connections are embedded into charming and/or alarming storylines. There are no dull scenes and characters are three dimensional to prepare readers for the forthcoming action series beginning with: WEREWOLF INTERRUPTED (Werewolf Detectives #1) by Eve Paludan and others.

In earlier years, a Russian family of complicated history, migrates to America and settles in West Hollywood. Not all the members are related but each one is connected in some way. They live with secrets of escape, childhood mystery, and individual indoctrination in the pack.

The mystery about Karina, the protagonist, unravels slowly. Karina has the qualities of inherited refinement and loves and respects her grandmother Babushka. Karina is studying to become a P.I. Her best girlfriend, Lexi, is rather wild but as close as a sister. Karina has interrupted her `Werewolf Nature' for personal reasons. It's no wonder that her entertainment is Lexi telling of her dating escapades with Russian strangers in their community.

Living near to the beach, enjoying her werewolf fancies and playing in the woods, Lexi knows the habits of humans dating at the beach and makes Karina laugh at her daring stories. When Karina asks Lexi for details, she responds, "I thought you didn't want details." Karina replies, "Let me put it this way. I am just as curious as I am horrified."

Troubles are brewing in the pack! Ivan is a twin but is the Alpha male of the group equal to the Alpha female Karina. Igor, his brother, is ready to do battle with him to win Karina because the current leader has abdicated and a new leader and marriage must take place. In fact, Lexi is the next female to qualify for leadership. The politics are extremely heated and friends can easily become enemies.

One night of the full moon finds Karina in a battle for her life due to an encounter with humans that has compromised her very existence! From then on, Karina lives on the edge. Secrets haunt Karina. But, as usual, her best friend Lexi throws caution to the wind. Big mistake!

Destiny seems to rescue Karina when she meets Jack Hardy, a homicide detective. He cannot seem to get past Karina's beautiful eyes that change colors according to her moods.

Right from the beginning, page after page of drama and mystery will keep you up nights until all the facts are out in the open.

Be sure to read: WEREWOLF INTERRUPTED (Werewolf Detectives #1) By Eve Paludan. The next two ebooks are available now. This is a verified purchase.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Howling Good Read 11 Jan. 2015

Paludan, Eve; Wilson, Suzanne (2013-10-24). Werewolf Interrupted (Werewolf Detectives #1) (Kindle Location 17). Eve Paludan Books. Kindle Edition.

Young and vulnerable Karina is a Russian immigrant, dedicated to an aging grandmother who insists they keep a low profile in American by not assuming the werewolf form. She works at a local Russian cafe by day and studies to become a private investigator by night. Beguiled by her childhood sweetheart, she attends a Blue Moon howling where the pack will choose their new Alpha but the night turns deadly when a band of human hunters go out for trophies. Karina is shot, and turns into a wolf, killing the shooter. Remorse overwhelms her and she vows to never assume the werewolf form again.

Ten years later, a werewolf hunter starts killing Karina's friends and she volunteers to assist the police detective in apprehending the killer.

This book is a crisp new approach to the often stale werewolf genre. These days I've found myself thinking I'd scream if I picked up one more hackneyed, repetitive were- story. Then I came across Werewolf Interrupted and found a new take on its mythology. The integration of Russian and werewolf culture with American human culture creates a fascinating and believable backdrop for these story events.

As the hunter stalks Karina and her entourage of unique characters, some fall from his silver bullets, tugging the heart and making the reader demand that the killer be brought to justice. From the grandmother Babushka to Karina's werewolf sweetheart, her best friend, and the handsome but troubled detective she works with, they come to life in a way that comes only from a deft writing hand. I was grabbed by the story from beginning to end.

Heart touching, heart wrenching and nerve tingling, this is a book well worth your time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not Your Same Old Werewolf Story 30 Oct. 2013
By Pat Z - Published on Amazon.com

Eve Paludan and Suzanne Wilson have given us a different kind of werewolf story. Karina, a werewolf, struggles with the idea of running with the pack as she did as a youngster in Russia. She's in America now looking for a different type of life, she's going to school studying to be a PI. But can she leave the werewolf life totally behind, as there's a werewolf hunter in town looking for revenge? Pick this one up, I think you'll enjoy it!

5.0 out of 5 stars A New Kind of Werewolf Story! 20 Mar. 2014
By Pixie - Published on Amazon.com

Werewolf Interrupted By Eve Paludan and Suzanne Wilson is not your everyday werewolf story. I am so Thankful for this! We are taken into a Russian Immigrant werewolf pack living in California. Karina, is a "Born Werewolf" It is in her blood she was born a werewolf. Her Grandmother " Babushka" keeps a close eye and a protective watch on Karina. Jack is a handsome Police Officer who gets the case when Something horrible happens. The chain of events that follow is a tale of Love, Hate, Brutality and The wonder of The Beautiful wolf. Add in a connection to "Grand Duchess Anastasia Nikolaevna, daughter of Tsar Nicholas II" yes THAT Anastasia, Rasputin, and Matryoshka dolls ( Very Intriguing) and Our Authors weave a werewolf story like none I have read before. I easily give this book 5 silver bullets. VERY well done!!
4.0 out of 5 stars A werewolf story I can get into 3 Mar. 2015

I greatly enjoyed this book. I've read vampire detective series so I thought I'd give e this one a try and I'm glad I did. It was so interesting I had trouble putting the book down and finished it in about a day.
I loved how the story starts with one major event as teenagers that sets into motion things they can't change. From lost love to finding love anew and learning some things she can't run from.
Some parts were drawn out, like grandma's story in the end that came out of no where or the whole private investigator thing thrown in there when she isn't even a PI yet. All in all though it was a decent story and I will read the next one.
