Illustrations are simple and small. Book is targeted for ages three and up; there are four lines or less on a page, but many of the vocabulary words like impervious, and infiltrate will not be understood by a young reader. The latter part of the book is devoted to ads about the author's other works and links to free stuff. Young aficianados of robots will enjoy it.
I believe that books should challenge learners with more difficult words, but this vocabulary is just ridiculous. Sure, older kids hear words at these levels when watching some types of movies or playing video games, but a hefty percentage of grade-school kids don't know the meanings so they "skip" over them. But the older kids would also point out that the first rule of fighting against a person wearing armor is to shoot where the armor isn't... Referring to the pictures, this would leave the little friends very unsafe.
I think this book could be great with some changes, but right now I can't recommend it. At least look at the sample before you buy.
(All public libraries have guides to writing for an age group or grade level. I suggest Writer's Digest books.)
I love the pictures that go with the story. They make the story come to life.
I think all young children would love to have this read to them and maybe beginning readers could read this with some help. This also shows what a youngster can do with his imagination. I would recommend this to all parents with young children.
This is a fun book for young children. Yes it does have some large words in it but that's where the parent comes in. It's a great read together book. The parent can explain the word's meaning. I think that's great and thus begins the education in preparation for school. The graphics are great as are the colors. This is a book that can be read over and over again. I highly recommend it for all. Scott Gordon I am hoping and looking forward to many more of your great books.
