The repetition in this book is a wonderful way to help non-English speakers with their comprehension. It's an exciting story and so easily taught with all the finger plays one can add. A must for all kindergarten teachers.

My daughter is now nearly four, and to be honest I think we've had it out of the library for about two years now! Thinking we should just buy a copy now! Its a lovely book. Illustrations of African animals and two beautiful black sisters are so intimate and vital. Pefect companion or alternative to 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt.

I was looking forward to reading this book with my boy as he is already a big fan of the original 'Going on a bear hunt'. Though the illustrations are good - it's great to see other African animals here, the story has not made an impression on us as the rhythm of the refrains is lost.

Beautiful fluid illustrations that fill the eye, and an engaging short story with which you and your child can employ lots of hushed or LOUD voices, whilst telling the tale. My child is two and he really enjoys reading this book with me.

Bought this book as a nice comparison to the famous 'We're going on a bear hunt' by Michael Rosen. This book does not have such good rhythm or rhyme but is a nice way of showing children how traditional tales and rhymes can be adapted to different cultures.

I got this to go in a Bear Hunt story sack in my Foundation classroom. It's not as lovely as the original but the African setting made for a lovely change from the Helen Oxenbury illustrations and was much appreciated in our multicultura classroom.
