Wendy Moore is an author and journalist. She has written three non-fiction books about characters and stories from 18th-century history which she wanted to share with a wider audience. She is currently writing a book about mesmerism - hypnotism to us today - in Victorian Britain. Wendy was born in 1958 in Derbyshire and grew up in the Midlands before moving to Oxfordshire aged 13. She read voraciously from her earliest years and always wanted to be a writer. After leaving school at 18 she trained as a journalist and worked in newspapers and magazines before writing her first book, The Knife Man, published in 2005. She lives in south-east London and divides her time between writing, visiting museums, digging in archives and beachcombing on the Thames.
