If you go to the official Navy SEAL website sealswcc.com you can download their physical training guide and nutrition guide for free, and what's written in them directly contradicts this book in several ways. This book is a rip-off of Crossfit and Paleo and the official site is clear that that is not how SEALs train or eat and advises against them!

Absolute twaddle! I'm a personal trainer, fully qualified in my own right, but wanted some fresh ideas and a new approach. I'd been doing mainly weight training with a bit of HIIT thrown in to keep my cardiovascular system healthy. I'd entered some bodybuilding competitions and completely exhausted myself and my interest in exercise!! I though this book was going to inspire me and give me a completely new training system.
Boy, was I wrong! If this man can make so much money out of writing this, I'm definitely in the wrong job! It's written by an American guy, so you need to give it a bit of leeway because it seems that the USA is full of people who need encouraging to just get out of bed! There's loads in the book on how to push through your fears and negative thoughts, and millions of supposed conversations the author has had with people who didn't manage to conquer these fears and thoughts. NOT for the British, we're made of stronger stuff than that to start with.
The exercises themselves are no different to any you'd find in any workout book - certainly nothing inspiring or revolutionary there! He also does not mention anything about people new to exercise and how you need to build up to the "full monty", and indeed does not cover anything to do with safety until the end of the book, when he simply says that if an exercise doesn't suit you, swap it for another. Not much help from someone who is meant to be top in his field.
The dietary notes are also not based on anything in particular but a list of good foods. He tells you to avoid basically ALL carbs except vegetables. I can tell you from experience, this does not work, especially when you are training hard.

Easy to follow, very progressive set of training (not workouts..) plans. Does the job is record time without killing you, though you will feel it, and you certainly need to attack it to stay on track. Would recommend for real world fitness.

An interesting read, with plenty of information on training. I understand the overall concept, but you can cherry pick what you require as well.

Great book to follow. Yes, I did all 8 weeks plus the 4 week advanced training. As someone who is training for the marines, I found the skills I learned through this book greatly increased my performance, look, and all around stamina.
