Boy, was I wrong! If this man can make so much money out of writing this, I'm definitely in the wrong job! It's written by an American guy, so you need to give it a bit of leeway because it seems that the USA is full of people who need encouraging to just get out of bed! There's loads in the book on how to push through your fears and negative thoughts, and millions of supposed conversations the author has had with people who didn't manage to conquer these fears and thoughts. NOT for the British, we're made of stronger stuff than that to start with.
The exercises themselves are no different to any you'd find in any workout book - certainly nothing inspiring or revolutionary there! He also does not mention anything about people new to exercise and how you need to build up to the "full monty", and indeed does not cover anything to do with safety until the end of the book, when he simply says that if an exercise doesn't suit you, swap it for another. Not much help from someone who is meant to be top in his field.
The dietary notes are also not based on anything in particular but a list of good foods. He tells you to avoid basically ALL carbs except vegetables. I can tell you from experience, this does not work, especially when you are training hard.Read more ›
