This is a reprint of a book that appeared around 1930, authored by the famous "Caliban" (Hubert Phillips). Production values are excellent. The content is fascinating -- including logic puzzles, chess and bridge problems and crosswords. I found many of the logic puzzles to be exceedingly difficult, requiring detailed knowldege of probability theory and advanced maths to solve. The style of cryptic crossword is very different to today's and should serve as a real challenge to those who enjoy such things...
