When Olivia and Brody decide to get married they invite their closest friends and family to share a weekend with them in their friend’s beautiful old-fashioned Inn near to the small town of Cassis, in the south of France. The Inn has real ‘it factor’; it has everything, charm, gorgeous gardens where the ceremony will take place and a wonderful pool where guests can cool off after the hot Mediterranean sun has shone on them all day. As romantic venues go it’s a certain top tenner.

But as the guests arrive there are unexpected and shocking surprises and it looks as though their wedding may not be the tranquil event that they had dreamed of. During the course of the next couple of days there are startling revelations, unpredictable behaviour and near chaos. It seems as though each of their guests have packaged up their troubles and brought them along to be sorted out! But of course, the path of true love prevails, misunderstandings are put to one side, issues are dealt with and the climax of the story is wonderful and uplifting.

This is an enchanting novel about the love within families, loyalty, friendship and trust. It is very romantic and a real page-turner. I enjoyed reading this short novel and have no hesitation in recommending it as a perfect summer read, full of interest and romance.

I would definitely not class this as chick-lit-fluff, but it also isn't the most complex story ever. The characters do have some background, but for the most part they are bare bones. There is quite a lot of relationship and family drama which keeps the story progressing though, so it isn't boring.

The idea behind this story, of two people finding one another later in life and making a commitment appealed to me. The love story that is at the heart of this book was well crafted and one that I wanted to see succeed.

I could relate to certain other situations that some of the characters found themselves in, so it was an easy read with few hitches along the way.

Overall, this was a nice afternoon book and I would recommend it to those who like to get to the point of a story without massive amounts of description and complex plots. It was a good book.

3.0 out of 5 stars Goes Nowhere 26 Aug. 2014
By Charles Kuehn - Published on Amazon.com

This story started off quite well. An idyllic setting, promising character development, promise of a good story, and (according to reviews) some nice erotic titillation to anticipate. By half way through, however, nothing had happened to suggest anything resembling a plot, and what amorous activity there was had (with one tiny exception) been presented in disappointingly soft focus. Hoping for redemption, I kept reading, but by the end of the book nothing had changed. If anybody can speculate as to what purpose the guy Nell picked up on the plane served in the story, I'd be curious to hear it.

If your idea of good reading is a selection of loosely connected anecdote, go for it. If you're looking for something more substantial don't bother.
4.0 out of 5 stars Cassis at its best 22 Aug. 2014
By ADan - Published on Amazon.com

It was a fun Danielle Steele type read that attracted me because of the Provence setting, and unlike Steele the writer at least knows the roads in the area - no running down from St.-Tropez to Monaco and back for lunch. It was a busy week-end in Cassis at the marriage of a 55 year old Hollywood type whose two dsughters create all types of concerns. It is a page turner that turns out well, in general. Maybe too well, in fact, to get that fifth star.
4.0 out of 5 stars Nice, easy read! 15 Aug. 2014

This book is a nice, pleasant read. I liked the characters very much. I would like to see what happens to these people once they leave the magic of Provence! Maybe the author will write a sequel and tell us. Hint....hint...It's one of those books where there's a little too much perfection but then maybe I'm jealous because my life is not quite this perfect! Anyway, I enjoyed reading it.
3.0 out of 5 stars Needed more smells of the lavender of Provence 19 Aug. 2014
By kade dahl - Published on Amazon.com

The story was well written. It was not as romantic as I thought it would be. I would have liked the countryside described a bit more. The problems of the family were all relate-able. One character was easy to dislike, in fact despicable! The Inn sounded like it would have been a nice place. More of Provence described would have been a pleasure

2.0 out of 5 stars Not my favorite book... 17 Aug. 2014
By Luv to read - Published on Amazon.com

The book was ok but I did not like any of the people in it at all. Hard to relate to an entire family of self-absorbed brats. If it weren't for the setting and descriptions of a fabulous part of the world, this would have been a total waste of time.
