Petra and Sam are both working on finding something out from Petra's ex-husband Jonas, but they don't share information with each other which lands them in avoidable trouble. The book loses a star for that and some unneeded complexity that added to the page count but not the story imho. Also, while I understand the nature of the illegal activity that was happening it wasn't clear to me exactly what was being done; perhaps I just missed that. Final thing that didn't fully work for me is that Petra was a smart woman but she was blind to a couple of folks in her life...unrealistically enough that her naive and dangerous blindspots almost--but not quite--approached tstl moments.
This is my first Reis book but it's well-written so I plan to read her again if she has other books. Good story, nice characters, relatively tepid heat...well worth the time I spent reading it.
The alternating point of view helped me connect with both characters equally. I wish Petra and Sam were developed a little bit more at the beginning so I could have connected with them quicker. However, once the book continued, I definitely think the character development progressed.
I look forward to reading more of Reis's books in the future.
