Product Description

Review

"Of all the books I have read this year, these are the most moving and memorable; more "people" stories than war stories, in countless voices and moods, of a richness and strength which makes fiction seem meagre" (Shaun Usher Daily Mail)

"In this book of first-hand accounts from the 1940-1941 Blitz, the human expereince of life on the home front is brought into focus. From ARP wardens to bakers, each recollection is written as though it were a letter to a friend. A riveting read" (Daily Express)

Book Description

This is a very interesting book with all the 'stories' being written by people who actually witnessed living through this period.
So anyone interested in what it was like living through bombings, rationing etc. will enjoy this book.

Absolutely fascinating. Most people just got on with their daily lives in between the air raids. My father was on leave but still went looking for a pub that was open with my 2 uncles. I was only 5 but can still recollect seeing our doors hanging off their hinges and all the windows blown out by a V-bomb. The book showed what war is all about.
