Its no secret that im a massive fan of Anne and her books and will one click her without even hesitating and yet again she has proved why.
The Way Back to Me is very different from the other books she has written and touches on a very sensitive subject of loss and depression. It is handled though in such a manor as to highlight it without ridiculing it or making light of it.
Olivia (Liv) has just lost 4 of the main people in her life and understandably doesnt cope too well. She and everyone around her hopes that College will be the fresh start she needs to move past the guilt and grief and start living again. unfortunatley (depending on how you look at it) her new roommate and her brother are from her home town and big brother Cameron doesnt like Liv!!!
Personally by about half way through i didnt like Cam, i thought he was a jerk and arrogant with it. I could see where it was going though and i just sat back and watched as Camerons whole perseception of Liv was changed and thought "haha sucker!!"
Now as for Livs roommate Alexa and new friend Sebastian, i liked them from the get go. i think both of them and their friendship will go along way to helping Liv heal and move forward in her life. Well i did until close to the end when Sebastian peed me off and im no longer speaking to him until he redeems himself in the next book (i hope so anyway lol).
This is Annes first release this year and now i cant decide who i would love to read about next. The Rockstars and Xan my Man, The Truths group (💙stewie💙) or this lot. Its safe to say though that whichever book is released next it will be the top of my one click list!!!!!
If you're a fan of Annes books, you will love this book as it's different to her others but you still can tell it's her writing. If you're not a fan of Annes then maybe this one will change your mind. I hope so as I truly believe this is one of the best books I have read this year and I read a lot of books, a whole heck of a lot at that!!! I can't do long and thoughtful reviews as I am not 'eloquent' enough. I just know what I like or love and will say it as well as only I can as I am a reader not a writer!
Totally deserving of more than five stars just for the first chapter alone and well worth one-clicking for the whole book.
What a fabulous story and quite different from the Rock Star series, I didn't even find myself comparing and that's because I didn't need to, I was so caught up with the storyline of The way back To me I'd forgotten it was the same author, I don't know if that's a good thing or bad but it doesn't matter, it was so good I want more!
This story is sad from the very beginning and defiantly plays on your emotions and with Olivia struggling and trying to move forward there's one person waiting in the wings to help her out.
Cam had been really cruel to Olivia in the past and still was for a while longer but unbeknown to Olivia he had always been there and it was clear that he didn't even realise his true intentions, his love and hate for Olivia were were being blurred.
As the storyline continued so did the chemistry between Olivia and Cam, the love and affection throughout was undeniable and so beautifully portrayed.
I loved all the secondary characters, Alexa, and all of Cam's friends but when Olivia first met Sebastian I honestly thought he was going to be the main male lead but no that was just Anne throwing us for a loop, I guess there had to be some competition!
Anyway with Cam being ever patient and very understanding they got there in the end, I have to say the scene where Cam gave Olivia the Umberella Necklace, I thought that was so special, it was their one thing that they shared from early on and had so much meaning, the words alone, it was really touching, I loved it!
But the ending.. Come on give us more!!
Thank you Anne Mecier!
In here we meet Olivia. She is a broken girl after the accident where from friends of 5 she was the only that survived. Because of somebody else's irresponsibility she has lost everything. Friends. Love. And her future. She thought she has lost the reason to live. And that's what she wanted to do. Stop living as she felt it's not fair. But being surrounded by her family and a person she did not expect to help her she manages to move on. Slowly, but always forward.
Cameron. God. I love him. Even though he is kind of an ass, I still love him. For his determination and also because if though he thought he hates Olivia, in fairness he liked her. All along. And couldn't watch how she is destroying herself. It was beautiful how he decided to help her.
This book has so many emotions. Raw emotions. It will strip you of all the walls and leave you sobbing together with Livvy.
5 heavenly stars! ❤️

Great characters, some sad moments that pull on your heartstrings, my only criticism is that it was slightly young and is more suited to a late teen audience.Published 20 days ago by Quickie
