About the Author

Veronica Thatcher is an exciting new contemporary romance author. Since she was young, she dreamed of being a doctor when she grew up. While still forging ahead with that, majoring in pre-med in college, she unwittingly stumbled upon a new dream: of becoming a published author. Some call her an introvert or a wallflower, but she has always found she could express herself better in writing, rather than in speech.

However, never in her wildest dreams had she envisioned that she would pursue writing as a career, and not just a hobby. Her love for writing goes hand-in-hand with her love for a good romance novel—whether a feel-good, sweet romance or a dark, suspenseful one.

When she’s not studying, reading, or writing, she is usually found blasting her favourite songs, sometimes singing and dancing along to them. Besides this, she dabbles in painting karate, singing and dancing. She is a huge chocoholic – probably the biggest – and an ice-cream junkie too. She considers herself technologically handicapped forever and has no shame in admitting that. She also deems chocolates her boyfriend, Patrick Dempsey, the love of her life, and Friends her life!

You can find Veronica on Facebook, Twitter, Goodreads, Wattpad and Gmail.

A Way Back into Love is a contemporary romance / love story with mild sex scenes. It tells the story of Emily Stevens and Derek Thorpe who have been best friends since they met on their first day of school aged six. There would seem to be nothing and no-one that could prise them apart and separate them. Until that is, rumours, half-heard conversations and secrets take their toll on things and events run away with them.
Emily Stevens is a strong spirited girl who takes it upon herself to look out for others: she likes to make sure people treat others kindly. That’s what binds her and Derek together at the age of six when she rescues Derek from a tricky situation. Derek becomes especially important to Emily as her relationship with her mother is strained, her half-sister doesn’t really like her and only her step-father takes any notice of her, teaching her things and spending quality time with her. Emily is therefore wary of letting her true feelings out and when the going gets tough? Emily runs.
In her teens Emily begins to realise her feelings for Derek are turning to more than friendship. Should she confess and risk losing his friendship forever? What would happen if she told him she loves him in a romantic way? Things spiral out of control for Emily and Derek before she makes a decision. She becomes so desperate that she runs away to finish her studies in Boston. Will she ever get over her feelings for Derek? Five years later Emily makes the decision to return partly because her half-sister Emma is getting married. Can she face Derek? Can she forget the past and bury the hurt?
Emily was the one person outside of his family (mother and sisters) he could always rely on, talk to and relax with. He needed her.

Emily and Derek have been bestfriends since they were six years old and have been inseparable for fifteen years. Emily has been in love with Derek but doesn't know how tell him she's afraid after all she don't want to lose her best friend. One night everything changes and Emily leaves town but when she returns five years later Derek is engaged to her sister who is nothing like her she's very horrible, uptight and a complete snob. Is it to late? Will things change? Can they move on from the past or will it keep haunting them? I really enjoyed this novel I'm a sucker for a best friend to lovers story and it's written beautifully definitely had me hooked couldn't put my kindle down till I finished it was worth the book hangover. I loved the main characters Emily is very intelligent and wants to achieve her goals in life, she do struggle with her emotive regarding Derek but she's strong and keeps her head above water even when things and people are against her. Derek is a incredible sweet man he definitely had me swooning for him he's friendly, wear his heart on his sleeve and is family oriented so basically the perfect book boyfriend. There story isnt easy there are obstacles in there way you can only hope they will pull through and find themselves together once again. I highly recommend this book it's a sweet read but with abit of drama and it's definitely a page Turner. Happy reading!

A way back into love is the first novel I’ve read by Veronica Thatcher. It is a modern love story with a difference. Emily and Derek have been best friends since 1st grade when she saved him from bullies. Daughters of successful surgeons with a lot to live up to, she and her sister Emma have never seen eye to eye and Emma always appeared jealous of Emily’s relationship with their father, while Emily had a turbulent relationship with her mother. When Emily mysteriously leaves town to complete her medical studies in far flung Boston, Emma takes up with Emily’s best friend Derek and soon Emily hears the heart-breaking news that they are engaged. It prompts her into returning home after 5 years, & they pick up their easy friendship again but there is no denying he is now engaged to her younger sister so any attraction feels wrong. Should she fight for her best friend and the only man she has ever loved or is it all too late?
This was a fantastic book with well-written characters. I found myself swinging between rooting for the main characters to get together; to thinking they should just be happy as friends. It was an upbeat novel that illustrated the power of friendship and about never giving up on true love. The main character of Emily was relatable as she was obviously highly intelligent but had quirks that made her imperfect which we all have. I really enjoyed it and was sad when it was finished. Definitely a good beach read for the summer.

A Way Back into Love
Veronica Thatcher
4 stars

What an amazing novel from Veronica.
There's always the one that got away in any relationship and that is the case here. However it's slightly more complicated, it's two best friends!! Best friends that love each other more than friends and never knowing how the other feels and unsure whether to tell them is always the worst and it's no different here so after running away and five year later, do those feeling still stand or have both parties moved on with life's.
Emily and Derek have been friends for as long as they can remember, they have their little tell signs when one of them is lying. But five years apart has it put a strain on their relationship? Can they truly pick up where they left? Are there still feelings between them?
These are all great questions and the answers are there. I've loved reading this and seeing it from all POV’S was great. Veronica has such a great descriptive eye for her writing and those little flashbacks into their high school days shows how that love blossomed but not quite to the flourishing point. I loved the mixed of Emily's sister Emma and Renee they kept the realism in the novel as and not just base the storyline around Emily and Derek. You has the secondary characters and parents which was awesome to achieve the full package.
