Product description

The W-8681-ST1 wireless transmitter uses solar energy to recharge it’s internal AA size rechargeable batteries. This product will power all the sensors connected to it and transmit the data to the main unit. The W-8681MKII is a wireless weather station that requires no connecting cable between the LCD monitor and the remote weather sensors. The range depends upon local obstructions but the normal 150m range will satisfy most requirements. The time and date are locked to the German DCF longwave atomic standard signal (can be received in UK) so the time is always right. This weather station offers amazing value and comes with everything you need to set it up in the garden. All hardware is included and the only items you need to supply are a short mast to attach the supplied stub mast and sensor assembly. The LCD display is touch operated and allows comprehensive adjustment and correction for your location. It can also display historic data, and within the menu you can select imperial or metric values. Also included is a software programme that allows you to link your LCD panel to your PC via the included USB lead. From here you can not only programme the LCD panel, but you can also download stored data and then display it in data base format for keeping your own weather history. And if you are in an area or situation where weather plays a critical part, then you can switch on an alarm that can be triggered by any of the data sensors. Have battled with unit since delivery. The solar measurement keeps dropping out on the display. The supplier has advised new batteries, I am now on my fifth set. I have tried fully charging before installing, leaving for several days before resetting. Solar unit will work for 5-15hrs before failing. All other functions OK.

Why don't I send it back? Well i did such a good job at installing it, its a real pain to dismount.

For the money should be better

Excellent, had it running for a few months now with no problems. It's just gone through a Scottish winter like a champ.

    This device has various badges
i personally would not buy any of them again

i have had 3 that all worked ok to start with but did`t last for 1 month before problems
check the net these devices are rubbish prone to transmission problems and over charging battery

    £100 wasted

Disappointed with the UV/Lux meter, it keeps losing signal.
I changed the batteries, kept resetting the unit, put the base station within 3 mtrs of the transmitter and it still kept losing the signal. The transmitter unit is being replaced but apparently I am not the only one to have problems with the transmitter section. If it had kept working then I would certainly have given it a higher rating.

This is the third weather station that I have purchased, and true to form, the wind gauge section ceased to function after a few months. I won't be bothering again.

It seems like all these units develop a fault in no time at all.
Mine kept losing the signal, to the extent that a set of batteries were lasting one month before losing their power.
I complained to the place where I purchased it from, and it appears that the solar sensor was draining the batteries excessively.
I am awaiting the unit to be returned to me after the diagnostics and repair, but to be honest, after reading the other reviews, it looks like I have wasted my money on something that hasn't lived up to the hype!!
All I can say to anyone considering buying this unit is DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY"
