The Waterpik WP-100 Ultra Dental Water Jet is clinically proven to be more effective than floss for healthier gums. Most dental professionals recommend brushing and flossing to keep your teeth and gums their healthiest. Unfortunately, the majority of people don’t floss on a regular basis, and most people find flossing to be a painful or unpleasant chore. Finally, there is an effective alternative to flossing that feels great and is simple to complete.
The Waterpik Ultra goes way beyond flossing to keep your gums their healthiest. Waterpik has designed the WP-100 to deliver a water pressure of 10 to 90 PSI with 1200 pulses per minute. This system delivers a clinically proven combination of water pressure and pulsation to remove debris and bacteria lodged deep between teeth and below the gum-line--three times deeper than brushing alone. In addition, it massages and stimulates the gums to improve circulation and help promote strong and healthy gums. The Waterpik Ultra is so effective that it is clinically proven to be up to 93% more effective than flossing at reducing gum bleeding--a key indicator of impending gum disease.
In fact, there are over 50 published clinical studies that show the Waterpik Dental Water Jet provides significant oral health benefits, for people who either wear braces, have diabetes, or have mild to moderate gum disease. That's why Waterpik is the most recommended brand by dental professionals. In addition to healthier gums, there is nothing better than the clean, refreshing feeling you'll get after using the Waterpik Ultra. While floss can often leave your gums bleeding, swollen and generally beaten up, the WP-100 makes your mouth feel great.

The WP-100 on this page is definitely more effective. Even after rinsing my mouth thoroughly, or chewing gum or waiting several hours after a meal Waterpiks remove obvious food debris from around the teeth, more so than interdental sticks or brushes. My dental hygienist says my gums look better.
There are some problems with the WP-100, though I have no evidence any other product is better.
It needs a mains extension lead into a UK bathroom.
Within a couple of weeks of first use the outer insulation of the mains lead broke because of a poor grommet. Replacing cable or grommet is not an amateur task.
The handle developed a leak after about a year. Waterpik UK replaced the handle free of charge. No other repair is practicable.
After a while using the 'Pause' button on both the original and replacement handles caused them to stick in the closed position until the machine was switched off, a slight inconvenience.
Of the attachments the only one I've used is a spare jet to replace one which broke at the machine end for no obvious reason. The other tips will be useful for some users.
The idea of this kind of product is brilliant. The issues mentioned detract from an otherwise excellent machine. If mine broke now, I would still buy another WP-100 because of the obvious benefit to oral hygiene and because my mouth feels better after using it.

when the reservoir is filled and placed on the base, gently press down to make sure it is fully located - this will ensure maximum pressure.Direct the water jet toward the gumline - oral organisms are obliterared en masse.
will freshen your breath, keep gum inflammation at bay and save you pain and money at the dentists.
+ High power (way better than battery power)jet that can be adjusted between low and high for comfort.
+ Much bigger reservoir than hand-helds and can use mouthwash.
- Despite having a 2 pin bathroom plug, the voltage given out is not enough (switches off after about 30 secs) and you need to plug it into a normal socket. This is a big design fault as it means you either need a sink in your bedroom or to run a extension cable into the bathroom :0.
Also pause button is starting to get stuck in pressed position more and more often. The only way to resume operation is to turn the power off, which reduces water pressure, enabling the button to pop out again. After reading comments on the internet this seems to be common problem.
Overall impression is one of a cheap and fragile product.
Received replacement unit from Amazon which seams to work better.
Also talked to Waterpik USA which recommended cleaning the unit with vinegar one every two weeks. It seems the pause button gets stuck due to calcium buildup.
Bought replacement handle after leaks developed at the bottom of the hose but leak got worse. Hose connector and rubber o-ring has design flaw as the ring is too small and the pressure pushes water around it. There is no way to tighten the ring. Time to purchase something else ...
Also button on new handle started sticking after few months despite cleaning.
He recommended the waterpik to me and I have gone with it - it represents 2 months worth of my dental insurance payments, so I don't consider it expensive.
My only frustration is that although my dentist uses his in his bathroom on a shaver plug, my shaver plug does not have the power needed to run the pump (have fused it twice and gave up), and you are not supposed to, so I use it in the kitchen with my head down the sink, which you need to do otherwise as my husband found out, you turn your head and everything gets a jet of water, doesn't take much to soak quite an area:)
So as a piece of equipment to thoroughly clean your teeth - no more detal floss - it is excellent - but to use it in the kitchen is a pain.
I would highly recommend the waterpik to everyone - but suggest speak to your dentist first as to which type.
