Bought this book for teaching mainly to find out about casein for students to read and experriment, only to realise that the author buys his casein paints from one branded supplier and gives no instructions on how to make casien etc. |the bought paints really arn't true casein as they have linseed oil in their mix ( the same as bought egg tempera) I realise this is an American based book but for students outside the states or for the more serious student it does not cut the mustard. albeit nice to look at!
A good book for adult beginners perhaps but with too much emphasis given to the artists own subject preference.

What an excellent book. Even has the cover flaps to mark the page your at. Very well put together. As for the content....! If your into water media in all it's forms, then this it the book for you. I have been painting over 25 years, but still like to see others doing it in their own style. Mr Quiller's style may not be for you, but at the end of the day, 'Paint is Paint'. And this book will show you the ways to get it down on your paper.
I use watercolour, but now and then move to Acrylic, as a mixed media. and this book works for me.

If this isn't on your shelf, then you have a space to be filled.

When it comes to painting in Watermedia Stephen Quiller is the tops.
I look forward to devouring every word- I'll follow the master.
