Her illustrations are stunning and are clearly the result of her own explorations and interpretation of her local landscape. The range of mark-making and textural devices to represent these landscape features she includes in each section again can be considered in a flexible manner, encouraging the artist in us to extend and experiment. This is a welcome companion to Ann's other books, notably 'Experimental Landscapes in Watercolour' and 'Watercolour Textures'. A truly inspirational book.
I have other books on how to use watercolour but just get bored at what type of brush to use and what paper. That isn’t what I wanted to know. I downloaded this to my kindle and I’m actually reading it every page. The pictures are beautiful and the projects fun. I’m. It being told how I have to paint but am being helped to define my own artist. Love it. Can’t praise it high enough.
Thank-you for bringing it to my attention.
She is delighted and working her way through the demonstrations, she used some techniques plein air on Anglesey last year too - this would be my only slight criticism, that this is aimed at studio work, but it can be modified slightly to use outside
Could I also recommend anything by her father john blockley
