Rudy and Stefan are burglars who decide to rob a secluded house which belongs to the famous author Fiona Carson. Fiona is meant to be away visting family over Thanksgiving but a change of plans means three generations of the the Carson family instead come to Fiona's house so Rudy and Stefan are in for a shock when they break into the place.
With their plans disrupted they take the family hostage while they try to figure out their next move.
The plot was good and the story developed at a nice pace.
Having read this book I have now bought 3 more books by this author and I hope they are as good as this one.
Incidentally, the matriarch I mention, who is seventy, is portrayed as being decidedly old and decrepit. Since I'm around that age myself as are many of my friends, I found this an interesting perception!
But this one was not up to her best work.
I am usually so into her books that I forget to eat and the house work gets left until later
but that did not happen with this book!

Katia Lief's "Waterbury: A crime novel" could well be subtitled "A Creative Writer's Case Study in Multiple Simultaneous Character Development Lines". Read morePublished on 17 Aug. 2013 by Steve Benner
I did enjoyed this book although I found the behaviour of the women at the end somewhat far-fetched. Nonetheless, worth a read at this price.Published on 17 Jun. 2013 by DH0582
