Part 2 in the Water Series. You MUST read Book 1 first, or you will be completely lost and pretty much nothing will make sense.

Now, to be perfectly honest, I'm not sure how to word a review without giving away spoilers, lol.

This book starts from the exact point Wishing on Water finished, right as someone believed to be long gone makes an unexpected appearance as Candice and Jax have just said I do!

The book as expected revolves around Candy trying to get her head round what has happened and where her life goes from here. That's about all I can say really, and that is pretty much stating the obvious, lol. What I will say though is what you think is going to happen?... nope. How you think it will end?... not really. Straightforward plot?.. not a chance. Lots of twists in this, lots of WOW moments and a few occasions where I really didn't know how anything would turn out.

Of course though, this is an Elizabeth York novel and so I should have known not to expect anything, because she seems to be the newest edge of your seat author. I really enjoyed this one, maybe not quite as much as book 1 and the Brooklyn Books but it is definitely a 4.5 almost 5 for me.

This was my first book of 2016 and it will probably still be in my top ten by the time I am welcoming in 2017 – this is a book that you just cannot put down and nor should you, it is an amazing read and one that I simply adored.
The book has everything you could need, it is funny (seriously really funny at times), it has attitude by the bucket load and it is packet to the rafters with drama and suspense.
I doubt there is another ounce of emotion that the author could have squeezed into the pages – she left nothing behind.
The book is a swift read in as much as the author doesn’t dwell unnecessarily, she allows the characters to dictate their own pace and they are not hanging about!
Candice is one of my favourite female characters in a long time, she is so funny and but in other respects she seems so fragile, perhaps not physically but certainly emotionally, she was torn as to what to do in many ways and her situation was far from simple and her decisions far from simple, I felt so sorry for her sometimes.
Could she find a way to make herself happy, what decision would she make?

HASH(0x8cecb4b0) out of 5 stars Pretty Good! 6 Jan. 2016

I liked these books a little bit better than Darra did. We did talk while we were reading them and our feelings on Candice are the same. I might even put her higher in my hated female characters than Bella Swam and Ana Steele. I understand her being confused and not sure what to do with her feelings for Jax but honestly after she found out some things regarding Chase, some things should have been easier for her. I absolutely loved Jax. He was great and totally put up with too much crap from Candy and did everything he could to try to find Chase's killer. Mark and Brooklyn were awesome and I really liked them. I am unsure on my feelings for Kate and Eddie but their story is in the next book, Chase Me.

The story line was really good. I liked it and I personally liked some of the twists and turns. You couldn't always tell who was good and who was bad but I liked trying to guess. There were some confusing parts and I didn't really like the ending. I know a lot of people that would absolutely love these books. I like Elizabeth's writing and it was easy for me to read.

I am giving this book 3.5 stars out of 5. I have said before and will forever say that just because I don't like a book does not mean that the book is bad or that you should not read it. Elizabeth York did a great job of sucking me into a book where I didn't like the main character. You have to be a really good author to do that. I say give it a try. I know I am harsh on female characters because I don't like to be weak. Maybe that is my flaw. Anyways, go get these books while they are on sale!

This is book 2 in the Water Series by Elizabeth York and the second book I've read by Ms. York. I thought I knew her writing having read Wishing on the Water, but I didn't because this book was so beautifully written. Ms. York's ability to draw me into the middle of the story with such ease and grace.

Jaxson once again proved why he's so swoonworthy and that he really does know Candice almost better than she knows herself. Having Chase return really put a monkey wrench in the life they thought they
were going to have together. The fact that Chase came back and thought that things would just be what they were before astounded me. I really felt bad for Jax because he finally had the woman he's always loved, but her heart belongs to two men.

The feels that I experienced while reading this book ran the gamut from tears to laughing out loud to scorching the pages of my kindle. I so wanted Jax and Candi to be together forever. Some of the decisions Candi makes though puts their forever in serious jeopardy and made me just want to reach through the pages and slap her silly. Couldn't she see that Jax was THE man for her?

How does Chase justify what he did to Candice and Jaxson for that matter? Will he be able to keep Candice for himself or will he realize he lost her when he "died?" Can Jaxson get past some of the things Candice does to ultimately get the woman he's always loved? Will Candice and Jaxson get their HEA?

Let's put it this way, as Ms. York has already said, there is a finale to this book and all decisions will be made by the last page so we won't be left wondering and I think her for that!!

Go pick up this book if you'd like to want to get lost in a beautifully written and enthralling book!

Yet another awesome read from Indie author Elizabeth York. More readers need to get their hands on her books. She is the queen of suspense and roller coaster rides. Every character plays a crucial role in her stories. Leaving you on the edge of your seat, wondering what will happen next and then BAM, something you would have never thought hits you right in the gut.

Well written, filled with angst, second chances, oh s*** moments, just the right amount of steamy sex and alpha males you just want to take home. York has this uncanny ability to drive the reader mad and make you want to throw your kindle, while at the same time you are rooted to your seat reading as fast as you can to find out what happens next. Leaving you feeling spent, satisfied and even a tad frustrated. She bring the conclusion to this series to an awesome end and leaves you wanting even more. Her attention to detail and flow is crazy good. The depths of her characters is true and believable.

Favorite Quotes:

“I wanted to make her fertilizer and plant a rose garden over her, but I was going to be the bigger person.”

“Chase seemed to pop up like a pimple on prom night. Always in the wrong place at the wrong time, and you don’t know how the hell he got there.”

“My mom used to say if something is weighing on you. Then go watch something worse and you will be grateful for the minor issue you started with.”

My Review:

I struggled in determining how to rate this series. This series is what I would consider an angsty and melancholy read, which, admittedly, is not my cup of tea - despite the occasional humor and delicious sensual scenes. I suffered more than a bit from the constant angst as well as a case of whiplash from the heinous back and forth and selfish behavior of one of the most unlikable main characters I can ever recall. However, the story was also intriguing, compelling, steamy, and well written, some much so and to my consternation - I could not stop reading it!

The story line was up and down - full of broken promises, regrets, betrayal, guilt, resentment, and jealousy; yet tempered with smoking hot and steamy bits, fun humor, and witty banter during the up periods. My biggest issue was with the main character of Candice – she was a deplorable person and a general a$$hat… I had a hard time caring about her. She was immature and extremely selfish, and caused considerable pain to everyone who cared about her as her default setting was that of an escape artist. However, I did enjoy her sense of humor and her periods of “thinking with her writer brain.” I snorted and totally agreed with the observation she made of herself when she noted, “I sounded like a trailer park reality series.” Yes! Spot on! Poor Jax, I wondered if he was a masochist as the delicious man just kept letting her wound him, she must have had magical lady bits.

OMG you are left hanging with your mouth open at the end of book 1 and then you read this book. Holy heck was this an emotional rollercoaster filled with passion and suspense. Candy and Jax went through hell in this book and I was finally glad to see the way it ended. The author really had me on my toes and I truly thought this was going to turn to the worse. I don't want to give away details of the book cause you will definitely need to read this series by this author, but I gotta say I still am not fond of Vanessa even though she was innocent in this whole thing.
I do have a ton of questions on this character and the details that surround this. Maybe we can get a novella on this portion or see if in a future book on the other characters. I was excited to learn that Kate a secondary character will be getting a book so maybe we can get a book on Taylor and get our questions answered from his side from events that involve Candy, Brooklyn, and Vanessa. That is one threesome to read about huh lol (dirty minds they didn't have a threesome they are friends and has stories tied to Taylor).
Candy continued to torture herself over Chase even after his passing. Jax loved her through and through even though she was a true runaway bride. In the end though no matter how many times he came to save her and was waiting for her to come back he still pulled a good one and pulled it off. Sometimes love is blind and right in front of you and you settle for what feels comfortable from what you are used to until you truly open your eyes once it is gone.
Those letters really tear you up and make the book even more real than it already feels. This series and the author's other series tied to this truly needs to be made into a movie or a tv series. We all love passion, suspense and characters that are funny and loveable plus add in hot cops, a DA, an ADA and an author and you have a great movie to watch.
This is the final book in the series (book 2) *insert sadness* and you must read book 1 before you read this book as it picks up right where it left off. You can continue reading about some of the characters in her other series as well. This is one author that will continue to be read by me once a book comes out and I would probably want some of that coffee while I'm reading as well thank you very much lol. Coffee, reading and a killer series what more to ask for!!
