I discovered Chris Crowthers' books whilst on holiday in The Broads. I picked up a signed copy of the first one Waterproof, a few years ago and read in "in-situ" it was delightful. Jack fellows is how I think Tom Barnaby would have been had he retired to Norfolk. The stories are very cleverly written and all have a good twist in the tale. You start to care about Jack, Audrey and their daughters and of course Spike too. I love The Broads and we hadn't holidayed there for a few years. We returned this year and I was delighted to discover the latest instalments in the Jack fellows stories, Still Waters, The Water Frolic and Water Under The Bridge. They are even more atmospheric if you can read them whilst in Broadland. Who can resist a "I know that place" moment, "been there". The only disappointment was not catching a glimpse of Jack sliding along one of the Broadland Rivers in his launch whilst we were there ;-)I have now read all the available Jack Fellows stories, and eagerly await the next.
