Whether you’re looking for a high-end Armani watch strap or something simpler, there are a range of watch straps on the market with styles guaranteed to appeal to you.
Some watch wearers enjoy the feel of leather against their skin, while others enjoy the flashy look of a metal watch strap. With so many choices available, replacing your watch strap will never be a problem.
How to change your watch straps
Changing a watch strap is a simple procedure, but you will need a spring-bar removal tool. Most watches are held together by spring-bars. After you’ve got your watch face down, you’ll find the spring-bar at the indents of the watch.
With the spring-bar removal tool, compress one end of the spring-bar that’s underneath the watch face, and then gently push it away from the watch. This should release the watch strap.
Once you’ve removed the strap, release the spring-bars and keep them to one side.
Next, insert the spring-bars in the new strap – put one end into the watch case and slide the other end underneath the shoulder using the tool. A clicking sound will indicate that the bar is in place and your watch is ready to wear.
How to choose the right watch strap
• Consider what you’re intending to use your watch for. Rubber straps are typically used by divers, whereas leather is a great choice for casual watch wearers. For high end watches, exotic materials such as crocodile and alligator are sometimes used.
• Matching the colour of your watch strap to the hands of the watch can create a stylish look.
• If you value a comfortable strap that is easy to wash and swap out, consider purchasing a fabric watch strap.
• Metal watch straps look highly professional, but some users dislike them because they can cause irritation to the hairs on your arms.
