The story is based around Cam and Tyler. Cam is really fun. She works at Wasted Words (bar slash comic store slash book store slash coffee shop – can I get a job there??), and is the resident matchmaker. She loves her job and loves reading people, hence the matchmaking. And she’s very, very good at it! Tyler is her roommate and best-friend. They friend zoned each other from the start and are really close and fantastic friends. He used to be an athlete with potential for the big leagues, until an accident took that away from him. Tyler is handsome, fun, sexy, funny and just an all round great guy!
“Look I know it’s vulgar, me ogling Tyler like hippies ogle kale in Whole Foods. But Tyler was some good looking kale, if that’s a thing. If it’s not I’m making it a thing.”
So Cam and Tyler both have this attraction to each other, but as they’re friends neither do anything about it. At the end of the day according to Cam, as Tyler sits on a different shelf to her they are simply not meant to be. They are total opposites and opposites do not go together!! So Cam sets about matchmaking for Tyler and finding him his perfect match…. But that’s not so easy when feelings get in the way!
I really liked ALL of the characters in the book. What I liked is how they were all so different, but all so real. Yes, there were actually a couple of times where Cam really irritated and I thought maybe I didn’t like her character after all!! But actually, as much as I found her to make the wrong choices and be a bit silly, she was very, very REAL. She has a massive heart and just wants everyone to be happy and in love with the right people, and when she did make mistakes she took responsibility for her actions and words. I think a lot of people can probably relate to her and the situations she found herself in and the feelings she was experiencing. I would have liked her to make her decisions a bit quicker with some of her insecurities and anxieties and then have more time to enjoy herself!
Some of the other secondary characters were also a great addition to the story line! I would love to find out more about some of Cam’s work colleagues at Wasted Words…
I really enjoyed how the story progressed and how Cam and Tyler’s relationship developed over the pages going from friends to lovers.
“I kissed her with all of me, heart and soul, told her with every motion, every touch, every breath that I wanted her. That she was perfect. That I was hers.”
Staci Hart has written an absolutely beautiful story, she’s written such wonderful words, put them together a created a tale of beauty and wonder. This book is both sweet and sexy. There are plenty of moments to make you swoon, moments to get your heart racing and moments to make you cry. It’s a wonderful fun read which grabs your heart strings, pulls them a little, but then straightens them out again. I must say I highlighted more parts in this book than I have in a long time – there were so many parts that stood out and jumped out of the pages, grabbing my attention! This book is a must-read for me!
Cam Emerson works in a bar-book/comic store and is a bit of a matchmaker too. She is also in love with her room mate Tyler Knight, even though she doesn't realise it. Tyler is also in love with Cam, but he is equally clueless. Tyler used to play professional football but lost everything due to an injury and is now a sports agent. Cam does not believe that beautiful people like Tyler belong with ordinary people like her, but the gorgeous and swoon worthy Tyler sets about showing her that there is nothing ordinary about her.
Amazing characters, amazing story and amazing writing! Wasted Words has everything I wanted in a romance and Staci Hart is now one of my auto-buy authors. I cannot recommend this book enough and I cant wait for more from Ms Hart.
I loved all the book and comic / superhero references which are all mixed in with NFL details.
The other characters in the book bring the story together and totally add to it, especially Rose.
Throughout the book Tyler has some excellent lines but his best is "On demand and at your leisure".
Cam is a big thinker and reads so much into everything but how she deals with her fears at the end is hilarious and using a book quote to sum up their relationship is so clever :-
"If this is to end in fire, then we should all burn together"
What a true friends/ roommates to everything ( lovers just doesn't seem enough for what Cam and Tyler had) this was an amazing love story and I fell in love with Tyler along with Cam he was just such a good guy who fell for the nerdy girl.
This is my first read by Staci and I feel like a huge epic fail on my part that I hadn't read any books by her yet but now I'm off to devour the rest and I can't wait !!!!!!
