Interesting but would not attract children
on 3 October 2010
I lived through this war as a child and still found things I did not know, for instance, that the Government directed the various movements for children to organise their activities such as collecting waste paper, and later on, that there should be activities for all the older ones, teenagers etc. The author also states that later on all teenagers had to join such a group. I wonder whether that was true? How was it implemented? Apparently it also suggested that patrols were formed which could continue when leaders were called up or volunteered to join the forces. Plenty of interest but, as Shire books keep down the cost, and also in this case there was not much of colour in wartime which could be reproduced, is not too attractive in presentation.
