What does it mean to be a Warrior? What are the values, the ethics that a true Warrior instills and uses? Dr Bohdi Sanders deals with these questions in the captivating book “Warrior Wisdom”. I have personally found that a person can get lost in the amount of philosophy which is available to us all in this modern day and age. Many people know that their values and ethics differ somewhat from other people but have trouble in identifying this within themselves. “Warrior Wisdom” is a good place to start in identifying your own sense of ethics and ultimately Bushido. Easy to read but also thought provoking, the book has a special place in my collection. I can recommend “Warrior Wisdom” to anyone who is on the search for the Warrior code or simply interested in delving deeper into the Martial Arts philosophy.

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent basic guide to the qualities required to live as a true warrior. 21 May 2012
By Joseph J. Truncale - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
As someone who has attempted to live by the "Code of Bushido" (Way of the warrior) for most of my adult life, I have been on a lifelong quest to learn from anyone who will share their knowledge and experience with me. Most people have little or no idea what it means to live by a set of warrior philosophical principles. It is not a way of life for everyone but for those who aspire to not just follow, but actually live by the code of the warrior should have this book in their personal library. In fact, they should have all of this author's books in their library.
This excellent book has 168 short one page lessons; each one begins with a relevant quote followed by a brief interpretation of the meaning behind the message. The quotes on each section were taken from various reliable sources. The following are just a few of the lessons taught in this book: (Kensho Furuya) "The student must become a warrior in an age when there are no more warriors." (Miyamoto Musashi) "One must make the warrior walk his every day walk." (Basho) "Do not seek to follow in the footsteps of wise men, seek what they sought." (Samurai Maxim) "Tomorrow's battle is won during today's practice." (Italian Proverb) "Though your enemy seems like a mouse, watch him like a lion."

In the appendix section there is a short informational sentence about each of the individuals quoted in the book.

In conclusion, if you are a warrior or truly desire to live as one, you will want to get a copy of this book. It is one you will want to refer to often for intellectual and emotional inspiration.

5.0 out of 5 stars warrior wisdom-agelesswisdom for the modern warrior 9 Jun. 2014
By Fred Stephen - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
Bohdi Sanders is a modern day warrior with the wisdom of the elders. i think that EVERY person should read this book, especially teenagers. this book talks about character, virtue, honor, wisdom and the list goes on. today's society is going down the toilet with their morals and character. this book has many warrior quotes and would benefit people on their way of thinking and mannerism.

4.0 out of 5 stars Honor and personal respect 8 Oct. 2014
By Loptr - Published on Amazon.com

Have not finished the book yet, taking my time to try and digest it.
I bought it for a young man in the Navy who has had a few substantial hits and his character could hang in the balance.

It is precisely what I have been looking for. While it may focus on "the warrior" anybody with a bit of reading comprehension and reflection will realize these ideas are meant for far more than a martial aspect to ones life.

Kaizen has been an important introduction in my life and it is expressed repeatedly in different ways.

Read it, absorb it and take what rings as truth to strengthen the core of your being. Then read it again in a year or so.

5.0 out of 5 stars this one is a great read, I am glad to take the time ... 18 May 2015

Format: Paperback
as with all Dr. Sanders books, this one is a great read, I am glad to take the time to set down a write a review for these books. I hope to be able to encourage other follow martial artist to read and remember some of the quotes, unlike other zen quotes and saying that leave you wondering what is really meant or thinking it is some mystical unknown wisdom within a one liner. The quotes in this book I try to use at least one everyday to fit the situation for that day. Great job.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good read 8 July 2013
By P. Mihalik - Published on Amazon.com

This was a good read with a lot of interesting ideas. However, in order to get the most out of it, you have to slow down and go bit by bit. If you just read cover to cover, you'd be done in a few hours, but probably nothing would make a mark. But read a page or 2 a day, and it's a different story.
