The action is fast paced and relentless, the plot is exciting and the book is extremely well written.
A must read.
Zebediah (Zeb) Carter, ex-Special Force is a private military contractor sent into the Democratic Republic of Congo. He is about to wrap up his observation mission when he comes to the village of Luvungi, where he witnesses US ex-military men are committing terrible atrocities against women and children by a group of men. Carter calls this group “ The Rogue Six “. Even though his handler tells him to ignore what is happening, Carter intervenes taking out three of the six. Back in the states with orders to let the other “Rogue Three” alone. Carter digs into their whereabouts. Circumstance arise that Carter needs to handle with his crew.
The main character & his friends have unique traits used

This is a fast paced adventure/thriller, full of action, twists and turns and unique characters. As it was a short novel, I felt the author was not given ample time to further develop the richness of the characters. But if you like thrillers or adventure stories, I think you will like this first in a series by author Patterson. What a astonishing ending to a good thriller! Don’t miss reading this book.
I do like a story that has a sense of justice and the fight therein.
Good, realistic characters and plot and recommended for those who enjoy plenty of action.
The plot of the book is strong and maintained throughout whilst allowing for side stories to be begun, continued and in some cases left open for what could well be developed into full blown stories in their own right. Early on the story required that there was an element of violence committed against innocent parties, this was written in a style that the reader, whilst being clear on what had occurred, was not subjected to unnecessarily graphic depictions of the violence. I'm aware that this is highly personal, but I far prefer this to reading the minutiae of the more disturbing acts that humans commit on one another.
On a far lighter note, the book whilst serious, contained a number of lighter moments one of which had me chuckling on a crowded train at 6.30 a.m. - no mean feat!!!
The characters are introduced at fairly regular intervals throughout, some the reader gets to know well, some may well never be read of again and others will no doubt feature heavily in future books in the series and I am looking forward to these books.
Purely from a personal perspective the use of the present tense took a few chapters to get used to but that is purely a factor of the plethora of novels being written in the past tense and actually the style is good and suits the book.
My apologies for rambling on, this is the first time I have reviewed anything outside of eBay, but I if you like the genre I recommend you give The Warrior a read and if you've stumbled across this book without reading much of the genre why not give it a go?
Having read the reviews and the comparisons to some of my favourite characters and authors I was more than happy to give it a go.
The novel is fast-paced, with a strong protagonist and a couple of excellent supporting characters. The main "side-kick" for some reason reminds me of Windsor "Win" Horne Lockwood, III from the Myron Bolitar novels, and I'm looking forward to reading more about him in the future.
Like one earlier review, the present tense writing style took me a chapter or two to get used to. It's different but works.
I'm not sure if I would have found this book so soon if the author hadn't tweeted me about. I'm glad he did as it's a real page-turner, and I will now look out for future novels.
It certainly merits the comparisons in my opinion, and if you like any of those books and authors I highly recommend The Warrior.
