An easy to read, complete guide to a battlefield site. The only guide you will need. The guide positions the reader exactly and provides a detailed account of individual actions. When you read the accounts of bravery whilst standing on the very spot where it happened, you cannot help but be moved.
To see the spot where the Welsh Archers helped win the Battle of Agincourt is a powerful experience. This book puts you right on the spot and tells you what happened, the background and the action.
I have visited the Waterloo and Agincourt sites from this book and thouroghly recommend it.
Next visit will be the other sites in the book ....

The BBC should release this series on DVD as a tribute to this much-mourned Soldier / Historian. People like Holmes only occur once every other generation. Who better than a soldier to explain the history of war?

The late Richard Holmes writes an easily readable book about English feats of arms in Europe across the ages . He was a soldier , academic and historian .I recommend this book to anyone with an interest in the past.
