highly recommended. A must for anyone with an interest in amphibious warfare! An excellent history of RN landing craft from the first to the last campaigns of WWII. Compelling first hand accounts by the crews of all types of landing craft: LCAs, LCMs, LCIs, LCGs and LCFs. Offers great insight into the realities of amphibious warfare. The losses in landing craft and crews, even for successful landings, were high. Particularly valuable coverage of D-Day and the landing craft 'monitors' (LCGs & LCFs) in the assault on Walcheren. Does for landing craft what the authors' excellent book Trawlers Go to War did for the latter vessels. One of the authors, Paul Lund, served in landing craft in the latter years of WWII.

I have several old worn out copies of Lund and Lumham books and each one was well worth the price. This booc documents the RN landing craft force of WW2 from out of date tyoe equipment to the best landing craft used in the war. Also there are section about coverted landing craft used as rocket ships and gunboats. It is another must read for naval histry lovers!
