This book isn't about instant love and a quick 'I love you'. It's about a meaningful connection between two mature women. Erica has written this book tastefully and respectably. The sex scenes are loving and powerful, which has a knack off pulling you into the emotions of each character.
Continuing where Widow left off, this book gives us the story of Opal and Ginny. Ginny, the best friend of Clover, a woman who knows where she stands and what she wants and who she is. Ginny, the woman who has been in the playroom as one of the members lover,, but not of the sex she preferred. ( read Widow) She is feeling empty and unfulfilled, until the moment she walks into a diner on a late night run and finds the woman across from her attracts her.
Unfortunately this first meeting between these two ends on a bad note, but as adults and mature women when the chance and opportunity comes back around, they grab at it with both hands. This was not an insta-love novel. This is a book about two women who have been in relationships before, one who has a son who plays a very important role in future books, and one who has not have children, but finds being an aunt a very important and fulfilling role.
This i find was a slow burner, Opal discovering herself and Ginny guiding her and allowing her to be herself for her.
It was also interesting to see the background of both women, their pasts and how it played into their present lives. This book also starts foreshadowing a new relationship as well the pain it is likely to bring.
This is a review of the new updated 2017 version of this book. I received and voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of this book.
The second that this arrived on my Kindle, I had to start reading, and I did not sleep until I had finished. It is so good that I plan on rereading it over the weekend.
Beautifully written, stunningly hot, and definitely deserving of our attention. This book follows on from Widow, and uncovers more family secrets. It also introduces us to a brand new pairing, which gives the author an opportunity to delve into a number of issues. Ms Chilson has a talent for weaving serious issues around mindblowingly hot stories. I absolutely love the openness and clarity of vision of Opal and Ginny, it is inspiring and comforting. As layers are stripped away, both women reveal so much and gain their own insight, as well as a much deserved new relationship. Their strength of character was never in question, but now they are people fleshed out by their conversations, touches and generosity. As often happens with Ms Chilson's books, I am somewhat jealous, but also wonder if it really could be possible in real life.
This is our fourth visit to Fairport and the Blended series. It makes a great contribution to story-lines, so I would recommend that you do read them in order to gain the full picture. That said, it is so good, that you could just enjoy it as a snapshot of the whole, and then maybe go back and catch up afterwards.
Just to add - on second reading this story is even better. As the desperate need to get to the end of the story had passed, I could enjoy the nuance, the subtleties, and the foreshadowing. I also relaxed more into the sex, the affection, and the warmth, as well as the heat. So very much is revealed in this book, that it is pretty important to make sure you get it straight in your head. After all, there is no doubt at all that Ms Chilson will be taking us down some crooked paths before this journey is done.
Although I sometimes wonder whether I want my daughters to know just what I enjoy reading, I think that they would benefit greatly from some of the knowledge imparted in these books. The insight into how people think, how low self esteem can be so destructive of potentially great relationships, and so many other issues, get me every time I read this author's books. I may hesitate with the Masters and Mistresses of Restraint series, but think that Blended might just be on their new year's reading list.

Gives you little foreshadowing of what's to come and answers some questions from Good Girl and Widow. Pick it up today and read it you won't be disappointed especially getting to meet the enigmatic Sage....I smell trouble in the future but the good and wicked kind I've come to expect from the amazing Erica Chilson.
Ginny a lot. Also I totally loved Sage. Wouldn't mind getting his own story from his POV. Can't wait for what is next in this series.
