Much of my teenage reading was devoted to the Regency romances of Georgette Heyer. Many authors have been influenced by her but few get it right. Until that is, KJ Charles.
This is my first book by Charles and it fizzes with humour and elegant plotting. In what is on the surface, a light, sexy read the book contains a deep understanding of the intersections of race, sexuality and social class in Regency England. It's a great achievement, now I'm off to find more titles by KJ Charles.
