I liked to book, for orientating and reading. But whenwalking in the city it is not very convenient to take it. The information is so extensive (which is actually very nice), that you need to keep it in your hand the entire walk.

HASH(0x9ffa157c) out of 5 stars Most excellent guide - informed and entertaining 17 July 2012

This is a really excellent book. Gerald Rosenthal clearly knows Cape Town like the back of his hand. The reader gains the benefits of first-hand information, insights and historical perspectives as they are led on a number of walks in and around Cape Town. Rosenthal knows and describes the routes carefully in the text, adds maps for good measure, and the rather arty photographs round out a fine work on one of the world's great cities. If you are headed to Cape Town, and want to avoid or escape a packaged tour, this is a "must read" that enables you to discover Cape Town for yourself and make it your own.
