This is the 2nd (or 3rd if you count the 2000 release CD Lemmy/Slim Jim/Danny B) album released by Lemmys side project 'Headcat'.

I bought the original release in 2000 and have to say I was still a bit sceptical about Headcat until I got this album. Previously I wasnt convinced by the quality of the recordings (just my opinion) but this isnt an issue with this CD.

3 Factors make this a great CD for me in comparison to the earlier releases.

Firstly there are 2 original tunes which have been written by the band - American Beat and The Eagle flies on Friday. 2 cracking tunes - which makes me hope that the next album from Headcat will be all originals!!!

Next I think the songs they have chosen to cover are much better and well suited to the band and their sound. Stand outs for me are - Crossroads and You cant do that.

Finally the major thing for me that makes this album so much better is the production. Cameron Webb is the producer here , making Headcat sound so much better. This is the guy who has been responsible for Motorheads great sound over the last 4/5 studio and live albums. For me it makes all the difference.

Instead of a strange covers band / Lemmy messing around with his mates etc: Head Cat to me, now sound like a band with momentum and I hope we have a lot more output from them - Including an album of original material and hopefully some live dates in the UK!

Unfortunately though it isnt Motorhead so i can only give it 4 stars.

Rock on!

HeadCat (Lemmy Kilmister, Danny B Harvey and Slim Jim Phantom) know how to do Rock n Roll and this latest collection proves that beyond a shadow of a doubt. Following on from their Fool's Paradise debut, this is another 10 tracks of RnR standards given the HeadCat treatment with the added bonus of two original numbers - American Beat and The Eagle Flies On Friday. With their love of the genre and the years that they've spent walking the walk and talking the talk you just know they ain't gonna let you down. Old School Rock n Roll at it's best.

This is the second album by this Motorhead, Stray Cats offshoot and is completely different to the earlier outing which I found pedestrian and poorly mixed. The first track, American Beat, was written by the band and leaps out of the speakers. the other self-penned song - The eagle flies on Friday,is a slow burning blues which storms to a rabbnle-rousing finish.

On the first few hearings Crossroads was the one track I felt was a bit weak. It is done very much in the style of Cream and doesn't quite sit with the other more classic late fifties, early sixties sounds. However, it grows on you. I can't recommend this set highly enough. if you like classic rock n roll done in a full on way and great guitar playing with a Rockabilly tinge then this is for you - buy it!

Once again Lemmy is brilliant. He is better known as the lead singer and bass player with motörhead. HeadCat is less well known and they are great. Pure rock and roll. This is great album and I recommend anyone to buy it.
