5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful & Surreal 29 Jan. 2017

The most beautiful and surreal coloring book. When I gave it to my niece she said "I like the way it has realistic and abstract drawings on the same page". Me too. And then we colored in it for days. Unlike any other coloring book. Stunning.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed. 16 Nov. 2016

I had high hopes for this book. I am not familiar with this artist/author, but decided to try this book without seeing any images first. The paper was medium thickness and printed double sided on non-perforated white paper. There are both double page and single page spreads and some images do go into the binding. This book was very disappointing to me. The description says that the work is "informed by the designs of Ernst Haeckel." So, I was expecting something a little more refined. There are images of odd animals, dinosaurs, geometric formations that are supposed to be plant life, along with a telephone, and bits of debris (a tire). The description also says that the book is void of humans. This is not the case. One double page spread has a large toddler asleep on the ground right in the middle of the spread with little detail around it. There are a few other pages with humans or people "shapes." The book is not really as adult as I was hoping. It is very kid friendly as stated though. I don't mean to diminish this author's style, but perhaps the description needs to be altered a little and images added for people to preview before buying. I did return mine as it didn't match the website's description of the book in my opinion.

This book is absolutely lovely! The designs are intricate and delightfully surreal. I found it locally so I could really look through it before purchasing. Well worth it!
