Great walks well presented, 15 Aug 2008 Charles Davis is a consummate guide, by turns informative, thoughtful , entertaining and idiosyncratic. The book is well laid out, with clear maps and consistently good directions which make it easy to follow, just as you would expect. What sets it apart however is Davis' style and approach, there's variety in his walks and an attention to detail that shows he wants you to enjoy them as much as he seems to himself. Not only did we have some memorable walks, along wind-swept coasts and through tranquil forests but we also saw a side of Brittany we might otherwise have missed. We'll be back, with 40 walks to choose from there's a few more we'd like to do and Brittany is fine walking country. By HarryT - UK Hadn't realized quite how spectacular the Breton coast is until we took a short trip there earlier this summer and were lucky enough to pick up Charles Davis' book in the local supermarket - a bit dearer than on Amazon, of course, but there you go! We did three coastal walks in Finistere and Cotes d'Armor, and two inland walks in Finistere, all of which were excellent. He writes well, the introductions are informative, and the itineraries are clearly described. The only quibble I'd have is that three of the five walks we did were so well waymarked you didn't really need a detailed description. But that's a quibble since, if it hadn't been for this book, we wouldn't have known where to go in the first place! Anyway, the experience was good enough for us to start planning a winter break in Brittany to do some more walking P R Spooner (Sant Cugat, Barcelona Spain) --amazon reader review

We stayed at Sables d'Or les Pins and found the 14 walks in 'Au fil des Cotes d'Armor .... balades en Cote de Penthievre!' a far mor useful publication although written in French. We obtained a copy from the Tourism Information Office at Erquy for less than £2. Money well spent.
