About the Author

ALFRED WAINWRIGHT was born in Blackburn in 1907. A holiday at the age of 23 kindled a life-long love affair with the Lake District. Following a move to Kendal in 1941 he began to devote every spare moment he had to researching and compiling the original seven Pictorial Guides. He described these as his 'love letters' to the Lakeland Fells. Wainwright died in 1991 at the age of 84.

Wainwright's pocket diary for 2013 is up to its usual excellent standard. The sketches of the Lake District are wonderfully drawn and bring back many happy memories of holidays in that part of the world. I am so pleased with it that I have bought one for my husband and one for a friend's birthday. Excellent value.

Once more i have bought the Wainwright Diary, because it is neat, concise and fits neatly in my jacket pocket. The print is good and the drawings are reproduced to a good standard. The diary will not be thrown away at the end of the year, but will join previous editions on my bookshelf, with my many Wainwright books.

As a regular fellwalker this diary fits the bill beautifully giving fresh ideas and space enough to record walks. The details are top quality and I would recommend this item for any lover of the Lake District and Alfred Wainwright. Shall be purchasing one every year from now on.
